JOB DESCRIPTION
Prepares finished product and service parts for inspection and shipment : moves cabinets and conveyor sections to staging area for alignment and visual inspection; prepares material for shipping by crating and packing some material; prepares paperwork and collects necessary documentation for shipments going by moving contractor; packs and prepares paperwork and documentation and assists in arranging shipments by common carrier; collects paperwork from order entry, sorts, pull parts together, crates and documents weight, cost and routing for service and sales parts orders; transfers finished goods from staging area in preparation for shipment; takes photo documentation of all completed checkout lanes; ensures that product is properly protected when using common carrier; assembles tool kits for shipment; ensures that custom documentation and packing slips agree; documents and reports back ordered material to the sales group; organizes all courier shipments from plant area.
NOTE: This position performs back-up responsibilities for the Inventory Controller.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
_ general shipping and receiving skills including accurate and timely processing of all paperwork required to accurately prepare and move all products to customers and all material from vendors.
_ experience in procedures, product quality standards,assembly requirements, locations of information and particularly a knowledge of all paperwork requirements gained through experience in the area for 1 to 3 years or through prior shipping and traffic experience and on-the-job training.
_ knowledge of shipping requirements including customs documentation, bill of lading reports, packing documentation, routing options and reading of worldwide traffic class and zone changes.
_ ability to operate a fork lift with particular attention to the transfer of heavy off balance equipment and licensed for operating a tractor trailer.
_ ability to read drawings, shop paper, shipping documentation and instructions that come from engineering, parts suppliers and regulatory authorities.
_ organizational ability to gather parts, select material, prepare the work area, set priorities within the shipping area, set work to priority demands especially from the sales and service functions.
_ analytical skills to trace missing shipments, read drawings, and plan activities in the area of material logistics.
_ knowledge of parts, quality standards and customs requirements for inspection and shipping preparation.
_ communication skills to assist in the requirement for coordinating work between departments, dealing with engineering and management and assisting others in cocrdinating pick ups and deliveries fo various carriers.
_ knowledge of the company procedures inventory and computer systems as they apply to area of customer and vender relations.
_ knowledge of all material specifications for the purpose of identification and inventory control.

_ mathematical skills to calculate requirements for inventory, weights per mile travelled for freight charges, class and zone charges for all parts service items and some finished product shipments and other costing and inventory purposes.
_ ability to read, understand and follow WIP sheet
_ knowledge of the scanning procedure
_ knowledge of the workers responsibilities under the OH&SA

_ concentration on tasks to ensure that parts are accounted for and material is moved safely through out shop, paperwork is accurate and inspections are complete.

_ ability to shift between periods of concentration and the requirement for sorting and finding the needed information and ability to shift between activities such as receiving and inspection when demand and priorities change; ability to set own priorities.
_ attentiveness to the needs of others particularly in the assembly area where priority changes or delays are more likely to originate from.
PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB:
_ manual dexterity in operating a fork lift truck.
_ energy and stamina to accomplish the tasks standing or travelling between work stations for long periods of time.
_ physical ability to lift heavy objects, pull, push, grasp, twist and turn in the performance of the job.
RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH PERFORMING THE JOB:
_ responsible for the careful movement and care of all product and material within the shipping receiving area.
_ gathers information from traffic companies, shipping orders, shop papers, contract run sheets, order entry data, receiving slips, packing documentation and relays it to appropriate functions.
_ gains knowledge of specific shipping procedures in the job at a level that surpasses that of direct supervision.
_ makes priority changes in work schedule periodically without the direction of supervision and sets own schedule in order to accommodate changing requirements in assembly, painting and receiving.
_ maintains of ordered work area and operates fork lifts in a safe manner so as to protect fellow employees from injury.
_ brings major problems or problems that have an impact on other areas to the attention of supervision.

_ brings shipping or receiving errors or damaged material reports to the attention of supervision.
_ transports product to outside warehouse using a tractor trailer.
_ reports accidents, damage or safety problems to supervisor immediately.
_ follows all job procedures as detailed in the operator inspection plans.
_ follows general plant rules for safety and proper procedures.
_ scans on and off work orders as they are processed
_ responsible for maintaining production flow from the proceeding operation to the subsequent operations
WORKING CONDITIONS:
_ works in a factory environment with where heat and cold are a periodic irritant.
_ must work in an area injury from falling material is an occupational hazard.
_ works in the presence of noise the levels of which are below the mandatory protection point but can be distracting.
_ handles small parts the can cause cuts and power tools that can cause more serious injuries as part of the job.
_ physically handles objects over 30 pounds on a regular basis.
_ handles hazardous materials.

SHIPPING RECEIVING
SELECTION CRITERIA:
_ candidates for this position need to have shipping receiving experience or have experience with documentation and paperwork processing and an ability to organize information and material.
_ the ability to communicate and cooperate with others is important because of the requirement to interact with purchasing, sales, service, assembly and supervision as well as outside trucking and vendor contacts.
_ candidates should have experience in other areas of the operation before coming to shipping or be experienced in shipping and receiving outside the company.
SKILLS:
_ hand/eye coordination to operate a fork lift safely.
_ analytical ability.
_ logistical skill, information collection ability and system knowledge are essential to the job.
_ communication skills are important
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:
_ knowledge of all shipping, inventory, expediting, receiving, documentation and order entry follow-up procedures.
SAFETY:
_ good housekeeping skills are required.
_ training in small tool safety is a requirement of the job.
_ training in the handling of chemicals, hazardous waste, pressurized industrial gases, lifting of heavy and awkward objects and the special handling requirements for acetylene is a job requirement.
_ training in the safe operation of industrial fork lifts.
Pay: $22.35-$24.95 per hour
