We currently have openings for both a Lead Journeyperson and a Foreperson Refrigeration Mechanic to join our company. Typically, at Jones these positions are trained in house, but we now have need of additional technicians capable of running supermarket and cold storage installations and renovations. At Jones Food Store Equipment, we supply, install, and service refrigeration equipment primarily for supermarkets throughout British Columbia. Founded in 1971, our strong relationships with the leaders in the industry are built on a foundation of integrity and innovation. We work with architects, general contractors, and store owners on small to large scale supermarket refrigeration installation and renovation projects.
Position Overview:
As a Foreperson, you will oversee commercial refrigeration projects including ordering materials, scheduling equipment deliveries, maintaining the project schedule, and providing training for apprentice technicians on various job sites.
Specific Skills
- Measure, cut, and connect piping without leaks using welding and brazing equipment
- Measure and lay out reference points for installation
- Repair refrigeration equipment
- Operate tools, gauges and other testing equipment
- Handle, recover, and store refrigerants
- Assemble and install refrigeration components
- Commission systems and test for leaks
Qualifications / Competencies
- Skilled trade experience preferred
- Experience repairing, installing and commissioning refrigeration systems in supermarkets is a definite asset
- CO2 Refrigeration experience
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Excellent electrical troubleshooting skills
- Able to analyze and interpret construction and schematic drawings, technical literature, and equipment specifications
- Self-motivated and team-oriented; a capable mentor for the team
- Career oriented with an interest in ongoing technical and professional training
- Available for local day or night work with some out of town travel required. Travel and living out allowance provided.
- Take pride in delivering quality work and upholding rigorous standards; ability to independently apply our processes and procedures
- Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal.
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Valid Refrigeration Journeyperson Certificate or enrolled in training
