Position Summary
The Youth Outreach Worker provides support through the Outreach Supports Program delivering both universal and targeted programming for youth ages 12–24. The program focuses on building resiliency, independence, healthy relationships, life skills, and community connections.
The Youth Outreach Worker develops and facilitates workshops related to life skills, housing readiness, employment readiness, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and holistic wellness. The position also provides individualized support to youth by completing intakes, developing goals, connecting youth with community resources, providing referrals, and supporting youth in overcoming barriers.
This position works collaboratively with youth, families, schools, community agencies, and internal programs to ensure youth receive the supports they need while contributing to a safe, respectful, and productive environment.
Qualifications
The successful candidate shall possess the following qualifications:
- Completion of, or working towards, a Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Education, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience working with children, youth, or vulnerable populations.
- Experience facilitating youth programming or group workshops is considered an asset.
- A combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Knowledge and respect for Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, mental health, addictions, and youth engagement.
- Knowledge of community resources and referral processes.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Current First Aid & CPR Level C certification and Safe Food Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
- Suicide Intervention, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, or Trauma-Informed Care training is considered an asset.
- Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Alberta Child Intervention Record Check.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
Position Details
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The position is grant funded until March 31, 2027, with the potential for extension based on continued funding.
The position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support youth programming and community events.
The wage range is $21.00–$30.71 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
