Schedule:
Friday - Sunday 7:30am - 11:30am. A total of 12 hours weekly.
Pay:
Starting Wage is $29.00 an hour.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the GM & Operations Support Manager, the Resident Care Aide ELS performs care tasks to meet independent resident needs in accordance with Enhanced Living Services policies, procedures and nursing standards. This position is responsible for administering the resident’s Personal Services Plan including but not limited to bathing, medication reminders, ADL’s and laundry services. The RCA will document services provided on the resident progress notes, medication recording sheets and the ADL recording sheets. The RCA will also observe and report any changes in resident’s functional or cognitive behavior to the ELS Team Lead or the General Manager.
The successful candidate will provide care in a manner that respects the resident’s dignity and self-esteem by supporting choice, independence and autonomy. Encourages and adheres to a holistic philosophy of wellness, recognizing that each resident is capable of, to varying degrees; making decisions about his/her life and is a partner in the decision-making process.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Completion of RCA certificate with diploma
- Medication Administration Certificate
- Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry preferred
- WHMIS, First Aid, & CPR
- Experience in the field of geriatrics & resident care
- Knowledge of bath procedures and ADL needs for seniors
- Knowledge of methods of transfer and capable of supporting residents with varying degrees of mobility
- Physically able to lift, bend and perform repetitive movements
- Proficient and accurate observation and recording skills
- Demonstrates an awareness of accident and incident prevention and adheres to safe work practices

- Strong communication skills including, listening, understanding & responding
- Commitment to customer relationships and hospitality by being caring and courteous to residents, families, visitors and co-workers
- Tact, diplomacy, sound judgment & confidentiality

Note: At Berwick we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. A current TB test and criminal record check are also required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults.
