Recreation Program Coordinator

Position Summary
The Recreation Program Coordinator plans, coordinates, and delivers person-centred recreation programs for persons living with dementia and their care partners across Grey and Bruce counties.
This role includes both direct program facilitation and program coordination, with services delivered in community, virtual, and in-home settings.
Employment Details
- Job Type: Full-time, permanent
- Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
- Work Schedule: May include evenings and occasional weekends
- Work Location: Community-based across Grey-Bruce (travel required)

Specific Job Responsibilities
Program Planning & Delivery
- Plan and facilitate recreation programs that support social, cognitive, physical, and emotional wellbeing
- Deliver programs in group, virtual, and individualized settings
- Monitor participant wellbeing and adapt programming to ensure safety and inclusion
- Escalate concerns when participant needs exceed program scope
Client & Care Partner Support
- Communicate with care partners regarding program participation and updates
- Respond to inquiries professionally and within scope
Volunteer Support
- Support volunteer orientation, scheduling, and on-site guidance
- Promote a safe and positive volunteer environment
Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in AlayaCare
- Complete administrative tasks, including scheduling, documentation and reporting
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and community partners
- Support outreach and program awareness activities
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Health Promotion, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and work experience in the gerontology field, specifically Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
- Competency in technology including ability to use electronic communication devices and software pertaining to documentation
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently in community settings
- Ability to work independently and as a cooperative team member with volunteers and other organizations
- Travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties is required; access to reliable transportation is necessary

- Physical requirements include program setup, transporting materials, and active facilitation
Compensation
- Compensation: hourly wage range $22.72 – $32.31
