Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Chef to lead culinary operations in a diverse food service environment. Responsibilities
- Lead food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistent quality and presentation of dishes for customers in a buffet, dine-in, take-out, and delivery service setting.
- Supervise other staff if needed, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain efficient operations as well as being able to provide support to front of house staff.
- Manage food handling procedures in compliance with local safety and hygiene regulations, and maintain high personal hygiene standards.
- Oversee food service activities, ensuring timely delivery of orders and excellent customer satisfaction, and to provide feedback and share negative comments with business owners and other support staff.
- Develop and implement menu items that reflect current culinary trends and customer preferences (including marketing strategies and preparing sales campaigns).
- Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, manage kitchen equipment to optimize productivity, and check for any other required system updates (such as machine failures, safety procedures, and additional best practices when handling potentially dangerous materials).
- Enforce food safety protocols and uphold sanitation standards across all areas of the restaurant.
- Deliver, purchase, and transport urgent documents, food and supplies when needed.
- Ability to speak, write, read and listen to instructions in English and communicate efficiently with both customers, other staff, and the management team.
- Available to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and on-call if needed.
- Ability to know, eat/taste, and choose the right food product for the dish being prepared: including but limited to a variety of meats, poultry, dairy, nuts, oils, vegetables, seafood, fruits, exotic fruits, condiments and spices.
Experience
- Proven supervising experience in a fast-paced restaurant or food service environment and the ability to manage up to 5 people at any given time.
- Extensive food preparation and cooking expertise with a strong understanding of various Asian and Canadian culinary techniques.
- Minimum 2 year food service experience in a restaurant management or similar hospitality roles and able to provide assistance to management in staffing enough people to cover each shift to maximize earnings.
- Demonstrated team management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff members.
- Knowledge of food handling regulations, safety standards, and sanitation practices within the food industry.
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills to coordinate kitchen operations effectively.
- Experience in serving diverse customer needs while maintaining high-quality service standards.
Additional Assets
- Have a clean criminal record check obtained within the last 3 months.
- Have a valid work permit and the ability to stay in Canada for the whole duration of your contract. Contract length based on work availability and staffing needs.
- Able to speak additional languages.
- Own a vehicle, a clean driver's abstract, and have vehicle insurance.
- Able to provide current or past work references.

Pay: $17.00-$23.00 per hour
