Located on a beautiful rural property in Rockland, Ontario, Maison Tucker House offers nature-based programming, educational experiences, community events, accommodations for retreats, weddings and gatherings, gardens, forest trails, and environmental initiatives that bring people together while deepening connections to nature and place.

Position Overview
Maison Tucker House is seeking an experienced and motivated nonprofit leader to serve as Interim Executive Director during a maternity leave period.
Working closely with the current Executive Director during a transition period in September, the Interim Executive Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure the continued delivery of programs, services, events, and organizational priorities throughout the fall and winter seasons.
This role is ideal for an individual with previous nonprofit leadership experience who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with practical implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Maison Tucker House
- Provide leadership and direction to contractors, volunteers, and program facilitators
- Ensure the smooth functioning of organizational programs, events, and facilities
- Support organizational planning and implementation of priorities
Administration & Governance
- Manage organizational administration and records
- Assist with Board meetings and communications
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed and maintained
Financial Management
- Oversee budgets and financial tracking
- Review expenditures and invoices
- Coordinate with bookkeeping and accounting supports
- Monitor organizational financial health and cash flow
Programming & Community Engagement
- Support and oversee seasonal programming, events and workshops
- Coordinate community outreach initiatives
- Foster positive relationships with participants, partners, and community members
- Identify opportunities for new programming and partnerships
Fundraising & Development
- Assist with fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship
- Identify opportunities for grants, partnerships, and revenue generation
- Support grant writing, reporting and funding opportunities
- Help advance the organization’s long-term sustainability goals
Communications & Marketing
- Oversee organizational communications
- Support website, newsletter, and social media activities
- Promote programs, events, and organizational initiatives
- Respond to inquiries from community members, partners, and stakeholders
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in a leadership, management, or Executive Director role within the nonprofit sector
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience overseeing budgets, administration, and organizational operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with fundraising, grant management, and community engagement
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with common office and communication software
- Fluency in both English and French
The following would be considered assets:
- Experience in environmental, community development, education, charitable, or rural nonprofit organizations
- Experience working with volunteer-led organizations
- Familiarity with fundraising, donor relations, and grant writing
Working Conditions
- Flexible schedule averaging 20–25 hours per week
- Combination of remote and on-site work
- Some evening and weekend availability may be required for events and meetings
- Transition and onboarding support will be provided by the current Executive Director during September
