Seven South Street Treatment Centre is a supportive, abstinence-based residential treatment program for men experiencing alcohol and drug addiction. We provide a structured, therapeutic environment where clients can focus on recovery, develop healthy coping strategies, and build a foundation for lasting change.
We are currently seeking a full-time Residential Addiction Counsellor who is passionate about supporting individuals in achieving meaningful, long-term recovery.
What You'll Do
As a Residential Addiction Counsellor, you will play an important role in supporting clients throughout their recovery journey.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitating therapeutic group counselling sessions.
- Providing individual counselling, including crisis intervention, support, guidance, and behavioural management.
- Supporting clients in identifying and working toward their treatment goals.
- Documenting client progress, participation, and responses to interventions in a clear and timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate, complete, and up-to-date clinical records and reports.
- Participating in weekly staff/clinical meetings, including contributing to progress updates and collaborative treatment planning.
- Monitoring and documenting client self-administration of medications.
- Supporting the safety, structure, and therapeutic environment of the residential program.
- Observing and supporting client behaviour during daily living activities, social interactions, and recreational programming.
- Supporting client accountability and adherence to program expectations and house guidelines.
- Collecting urine samples and administering breathalyzer testing as required.
- Working collaboratively with staff, referral sources, family members, and community partners to support client recovery.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will possess:
- Post-secondary education at the college or university level, with additional certification or post-graduate education in Addictions. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and relevant lived experience may be considered.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing substance use and/or mental health counselling.
- Strong group facilitation and individual counselling skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professional boundaries and ethical standards.
