Underground Development Miner – Support Miner (Runner)

We currently operate three mines – two in Canada and one in Mexico – and we have a strong portfolio of development stage projects, including the Lynn Lake Project and Island Gold Phase 3+ Expansion in Canada, and Puerto Del Aire Project in Mexico. Alamos also has an early-stage exploration project in Canada, the Qiqavik Gold Project. Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for safe and efficient completion of underground mining operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Transport tools, equipment, and consumables from surface or storage areas to underground work zones;
Assist in the setup and operation of drills and other mining machinery;
Extend and maintain ventilation and water lines, ensuring proper mine services are in place;
Support safety protocols by scaling loose rock;
Maintain supply storage areas and ensure availability of critical items like explosives, drill bits, etc.; and
All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

Completion of secondary school (high school diploma) is typically required.
Previous experience as a mine labourer or in underground support roles preferred.
Basic Common Core certification (Ontario) is an asset.
Ability to work in a team and follow safety procedures rigorously.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off – 10 hours

Pay or shift range: $36.24 CAD to $40.43 CAD / hour

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
