Fares & Co Development Inc. is an integrated real estate development organization with operations in land development, multi-family construction, construction services, rental operations, and property management.
The Accountant, Real Estate Development is responsible for accounts payable, corporate accounts receivable and collections, re-billing, and intercompany billing and tracking. It is a hands-on role at the centre of how money moves through the organization, with direct working relationships across the finance, construction, and development teams.
In This Role You Will
- Own the accounts payable cycle across multiple entities, from invoice intake through payment
- Prepare and track re-billings between corporate entities, including credit card allocations
- Maintain accurate intercompany and related party account balances and reconciliations
- Manage corporate accounts receivable, including invoicing, tracking, and collections
- Support month-end close and keep all entities current
- Assist with HST filings, year-end support, and other compliance requirements

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable
- Full-cycle accounts payable across multiple entities, including invoice intake, coding, approval routing, and entry
- Planning and completing AP batch payment runs, and maintaining supplier records
- Supplier account reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies and aged items
Re-billing and Credit Card Management
- Preparing re-billings between corporate entities for costs incurred by one company on behalf of another
- Credit card management across the group, including review, coding, and allocation of charges
- Determining and processing recoveries of credit card and other charges from related parties
- Ensuring costs paid by one entity are billed and recovered on a timely basis to protect cash flow
Accounts Receivable and Collections
- Preparing and issuing corporate accounts receivable invoices across entities
- Tracking outstanding receivables and following up on aged balances
- Managing collections activity and escalating unresolved accounts as required
- Applying receipts and maintaining accurate customer account records
Intercompany and Related Party Tracking
- Maintaining accurate records of related party, intercompany, and shareholder account balances
- Performing intercompany and related party reconciliations, and clearing reconciling items
- Supporting the elimination and reconciliation of intercompany balances at reporting dates
Accounting Operations Support
- Bank reconciliations and related analysis across multiple entities
- Support of month-end close processes to keep all entities current
- Preparation and completion of bank deposits
- General accounting support across corporate and development entities
Compliance and Reporting Support
- Preparation and filing of HST returns
- Preparation of supporting information for year-end financial statement and tax return preparation
- Assisting other business units as required
About You
You are an accountant who enjoys being hands-on in a busy, multi-entity environment. You are organized, accurate, and comfortable chasing down the detail behind a cost until it is recorded and recovered in the right place.
This role suits someone early in their accounting career who wants exposure to real estate development and construction, or an experienced accounting technician who wants variety beyond a single-entity AP function.
What you bring
- Accounting diploma or degree from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience (a CPA designation is not required)
- Two or more years of accounts payable or full-cycle accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including accrual accounting and account reconciliation
- Comfort with intercompany transactions, due to / from balances, and reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills and strong written and verbal communication
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage volume and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Exposure to real estate, construction, or property accounting is an asset, but not required
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Yardi, or comparable accounting systems is an asset

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
