Role
Tectonica Management Inc. is seeking an experienced carpenter to join our team. We are looking for a well rounded carpenter with a strong emphasis on framing and structural carpentry work as well as experience in finishing carpentry. The qualified individual will be able to work well as part of a team or be self directed and able to manage all parts of smaller projects independently. Tasks include reading floor plans, ordering materials, framing various sized structures, installing doors and windows, installing baseboard and trim, installing hardware, coordinating with trades, site cleanup and other tasks as required.
Education & Training
Carpenters may receive their training on the job or by attending vocational schools, technical schools and/or formal carpentry apprenticeship programs. Professional development courses in project management, leadership, site management, safety procedures and protocols are beneficial. A minimum of 4 years of combined education and on the job training is required.
A valid driver’s license, with a clean driver’s abstract, is a requirement. WCB Level 1 First Aid is an asset. Ticket of qualification in carpentry is an asset.
Skills
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
- Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to measurements
- Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
- Build scaffolding and other construction structures
- Supervise junior carpenters and laborers working on the job site
Skilled in using all of the normal hand and handheld power tools associated with the trade. A strong working knowledge of shop tools is an asset.

Wage Range
$30 to $36 per hour depending on skills, experience, and demonstrated performance.
