The Opportunity
Hawk’s Agro is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to provide financial leadership across Hawk’s Agro and the broader AgAlliance network.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, accounting, inventory controls, financial systems, and month-end processes in a multi-location agricultural retail environment.
Working closely with the Chief Accounting Officer, accounting and operational teams, the Financial Controller will help strengthen financial processes, improve efficiencies, and provide meaningful financial insight to support business decisions and performance.

What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and supporting financial records.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and monitor working capital requirements.
- Provide oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit exposure.
Inventory, Controls & Systems
- Provide financial oversight of inventory controls, valuation, and reconciliation processes
- Analyze performance by location and product category to identify risks and opportunities.
- Strengthen accounting controls, processes, and workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, automation, and overall efficiency.
- Coordinate annual audit activities and support tax, GST, lender, insurance, and other reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Lead, coach, and develop accountingand finance team members.
- Build strong relationships with operational leaders.
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to the Chief Accounting Officer and leadership team.
- Collaborate with finance leaders across the JGL Group to support consistency and alignment.
- Support strategic initiatives, special projects, and evolving business needs.
What You Bring
- CPA designation required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Previous Controller experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with financial reporting and month-end/year-end processes.
- Experience with inventory accounting, cash flow, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Demonstrated ability to strengthen controls and improve financial processes.
- Experience leading and developingteam members.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
- Agriculture, agricultural retail, or multi-location business experience is considered an asset.
