Moncton –Youth Care Worker for Safe and Supportive Care - Full-time – Open-ended term with possibility of becoming permanent.
The Organization
Youth Impact Jeunesse is a large accredited and charitable organization that has distinguished itself as a leader in the delivery of residential and community outreach services for at-risk youth. With more than 300 dedicated staff, the agency strives to make a positive difference in the lives of youth and their families by providing support and teaching them helpful skills needed to succeed. Currently Youth Impact Jeunesse operates fifteen residential facilities in seven different communities across New Brunswick. It also offers several community outreach programs within the Greater Moncton area.
Place of Safe and Supportive Care Program is a four-bed locked facility for youth ages 12 – 18 who are in care, have been court ordered by a family court judge. Service delivery will be a collaborative approach involving a wide range of other professional supports being provided and directed by Social Development. Safe and Supportive Care provides a therapeutic environment and is designed to help stabilize, protect and support youth through individualized care plans with consistent and compassionate engagement from youth care workers.
This position reports to the Program Manager.
Job Responsibilities/Duties include but not limited to:
- Ability to accommodate shift work hours needed by the program.
- Awareness and adherence of safety protocols within/outside the facility.
- Providing direct care, supervision, and therapeutic support to youth in a locked facility using trauma-informed, harm-reduction based practices.
- Establish and maintain safe, structured and therapeutic routines while building trusting relationships with youth.
- Collaborate with team members, clinicians, social workers, and external agencies to support individualized treatment goals and safety plans.
- Assist with activities of daily living and the day-to-day operations of the program including implementation of the daily schedule, recreation, education support, cooking, cleaning, errands, and appointments.
- Complete all necessary documentation associated with the position, such as logs and incident reports.
- Promote and maintain a safe, non-judgmental, welcoming environment for youth of all genders, cultural backgrounds and identities while complying with individualized care plans, clinical direction and agency policies and procedures.
- Support youth in skill acquisition and build on current skills in the areas of self-esteem, communication, emotional regulation, stress management, and other life skills.
- Ensuring proper implementation of intake, care planning and discharge activities.
- Participation in regular team meetings, debriefing, and professional development opportunities.

Educational Requirements:
- College diploma or bachelor’s degree in social services related discipline is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience working directly with youth with complex mental health and behavioural issues is required.
- Experience working with youth in a residential setting is a strong asset.
Candidates being considered for employment will be subject to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check and background check by the Department of Social Development.
