CNC Laser Parts Picker Summary
The Laser Table Parts Picker is responsible for safely and accurately removing, identifying, sorting, and organizing cut metal parts from a CNC laser cutting table. This position plays an important role in maintaining production flow by ensuring parts are properly handled, inspected, identified, and prepared for the next stage of manufacturing. Must Be willing to work day, night and weekend shifts.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, Work well as a team, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely remove cut parts and scrap material from the laser cutting table.
- Identify and sort parts according to job number, part number, material, thickness, and production requirements.
- Inspect parts for obvious defects, damage, incorrect cuts, excessive dross, or other quality concerns.
- Separate finished parts from scrap and reusable material.
- Label and organize parts on the correct pallets.
- Use drawings, work orders, and production paperwork to verify parts.
- Operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other shop equipment as required.
- Assist with loading and unloading material when required.
- Keep the laser area, workstations, and surrounding production areas clean and organized.
- Properly dispose of scrap and maintain separation of different materials.
- Communicate missing, damaged, incorrect, or questionable parts to the laser operator or supervisor.
- Help maintain an efficient flow of material through the production process.
- Perform other general shop and production duties.
- Identify tasks and do them without being repeatedly instructed to.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or metalworking environment is an asset but not required.
- Ability to read basic measurements and understand part identification numbers.
- Ability to read and understand basic shop drawings is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Comfortable working around loud machinery and in a physical shop environment.
- Ability to safely lift and move parts and materials as required.
- Able to work Day/Night and Weekend shifts
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and handling of metal parts.
- Ability to lift and move materials within the safe limits established by the company.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery, sharp metal edges, and industrial equipment.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing and metal fabrication shop environment.
- Exposure to noise, metal dust, heat, and industrial equipment.
- Work may involve handling sharp-edged metal components.
- Steel-toed footwear, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, required.

A successful Laser Table Parts Picker consistently keeps parts organized and moving through production, accurately identifies and sorts completed parts, maintains a clean and safe work area, and communicates problems quickly to the appropriate team member.
