Position Summary:
Accounting Assistant with GS Homes Ltd.. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the company’s accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general accounting tasks. On an as-needed basis, you may also assist with administrative duties to support management and project operations. The ideal candidate will manage daily financial transactions, ensure accurate record-keeping, and assist with purchasing and contract administration functions as needed. This role requires strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and match with purchase orders and contracts.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare and process electronic payments and cheques.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date AP records and files.
Accounts Receivable:
- Prepare and issue invoices to customers and clients.
- Track payments and follow up on outstanding accounts.
- Record incoming payments accurately and maintain AR aging reports.
- Reconcile AR accounts monthly and support reporting requirements.
Backup – Purchasing & Contract Administration:
- Support purchasing activities by obtaining quotes, preparing purchase orders, and maintaining supplier records.
- Assist with contract documentation, filing, and compliance tracking.
- Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure timely procurement and document flow.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, change orders, and vendor agreements.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in accounts payable/receivable; construction or real estate industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
