Position Summary
Reporting to the Plant Manager - Power Systems, the Engine Assembler is responsible for building high-performing engines and sub-assemblies to strict technical specifications. This position requires precision, mechanical aptitude, the ability to read engineering schematics, and a proactive mindset toward quality control and testing.
Key Responsibilities
-
Engine Assembly: Build and assemble engines and their complex sub-components following detailed assembly instructions, engineering drawings, blueprints, and specific technical parameters. Accurately utilize precision hand tools, power tools, and specialized industrial shop equipment.
-
Quality Control: Inspect, measure, and verify the quality of assembled engines to ensure they meet established manufacturing standards. Actively identify, document, and rectify any component discrepancies, defects, or issues discovered during construction.
-
Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct structural and functional tests on assembled engines to guarantee proper mechanical operation. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues, executing necessary adjustments and repairs on the fly.
-
Documentation & Tracking: Maintain highly accurate, detailed records of the build process, including specific parts used, precise test results, torque specs, and any required adjustments. Report recurring failure patterns or part defects directly to the supervisor.
-
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all corporate safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe workspace for yourself and your team. Participate in routine safety training and follow industry best practices for handling heavy materials and equipment.
-
Team Collaboration: Partner closely with other members of the assembly team, engineers, and quality control personnel to streamline production efficiency and solve mechanical bottlenecks.
Qualifications & Skills
-
Experience: Proven hands-on experience as an engine assembler or a closely related precision mechanical assembly role.
-
Tool Proficiency: Strong familiarity and high comfort level with specialized hand and power tools commonly used in industrial engine assembly (e.g., torque wrenches, micrometers, air lines).
-
Technical Literacy: Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and successfully execute builds from engineering drawings, schematics, and multi-step assembly instructions.
-
Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for precision and accuracy, with an unwavering commitment to producing clean, high-quality, defect-free work.
-
Safety Focused: Thorough understanding of standard shop safety protocols and a dedicated personal commitment to workplace safety.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
This position is physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods, bending, stretching, and lifting heavy mechanical objects up to standard safety thresholds. Certain tasks may be performed in tight, confined, or awkward spaces within power generation setups. Continuous exposure to active manufacturing environments, including contact with various engine components, lubricants, grease, industrial fluids, and workshop noise. Flexibility is required, as the role may demand occasional overtime and weekend work, particularly during peak manufacturing cycles.
