Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Subcontractor to join our team for residential and light commercial HVAC installations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in installing furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, hot water heaters, tanklesses, and sheet metal. Installations must be done to company standards and must follow company procedure. As an HVAC Subcontractor, you will work independently and collaboratively with the owner to ensure high-quality service and customer satisfaction. Candidates should possess strong mechanical knowledge, construction experience, and the ability to interpret schematics and technical diagrams. Candidates must also possess valid licenses and insurance, including business insurance and WSIB, as well as own tools and a work van. As a new company in Durham Region, our work volume is limited. As a result, this position is an as-needed basis. Our schedule is pretty flexible, but we require you to hold to a date when previously agreed upon, barring any unforeseeable disaster, sickness, or family emergency.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems in accordance with industry and company standards and project specifications
- Perform plumbing work related to HVAC systems, including pipe fitting and connections
- Conduct welding tasks as needed for system assembly or repair
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals
- Operate and service boilers, appliances, and other mechanical equipment
- Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and technical drawings to execute projects accurately
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and building codes
- Communicate thoroughly with the customer with transparency and honesty
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed and materials used
Experience
- Proven experience as an HVAC technician or subcontractor with a strong background residential HVAC installations.
- Experience with repairing and maintaining HVAC equipment an asset
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams effectively an asset
- Prior experience working as a subcontractor in HVAC installations is preferred
Requirements
- Possess a work van or truck with no printing on it. Must look clean and not rusting away.
- Own tools to do HVAC installations and service work if needed
- Wear company provided apparel for every job.

- Physically fit, able to lift 50lbs with ease.

Insurance
- Must possess valid liability insurance (minimum $2 million)
- Must possess WSIB coverage and be in good standing with WSIB
Pay
This position pays per job completed (piecework). Actual pay rate will depend on job type, experience level, quality of work, and compliance with company processes and policies.

McKeever Heating and Air Conditioning is an HVAC company located in Uxbridge, Ontario. Most of our service is residential, and some of it is light commercial. We serve the Durham Region, including Uxbridge, Port Perry, Whitby, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, and Clarington, as well as north Durham and nearby cities in York Region. We perform a range of HVAC services, including repairs, installation, and maintenance of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless units, water heaters, tanklesses, pool heaters, and fireplaces, as well as installation of gas lines for gas stoves and barbecues. We have a high standard for our installations. We make sure that the unit is install to function optimally and look clean as well. We take pride in performing quality workmanship. We expect those who do work for us to take pride in their work as well, and not just slap in units. We take our measurements and document everything after every installation.
