'Summary'
Ground Effects is currently searching for a Technical Project Manager to support our team in Windsor, Ontario. The position of Technical Project Manager consists of the planning, coordination, and end-to-end delivery of Ground Effects Ltd.’s portfolio of IT and business-systems projects. Operating with significant autonomy in a matrixed environment, this role partners with executive sponsors and functional owners across Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Quality, and IT to define scope, manage risk and dependencies, and drive initiatives to on-time, on-budget completion. The incumbent sets delivery standards and governance, manages software vendors and implementation partners, and translates business needs into actionable project scope — ensuring solutions are adopted and deliver measurable value to the organization.
'Responsibilities'
' Lead cross-functional teams to deliver automotive accessory projects on time and within scope.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of concurrent IT and business-systems projects from initiation through close, defining scope, objectives, deliverables, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with executive sponsors, functional owners, and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, milestone schedules, resource plans, and budgets; sequence interdependent workstreams and actively manage the critical path across the project portfolio.
- Drive coordination across cross-functional delivery teams spanning Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Quality, Plant Leadership, and IT — along with external implementation partners and vendors — to keep workstreams aligned, sequenced, and unblocked.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and provide clear, regular status reporting to executives and steering committees; surface decisions and trade-offs with structured options and recommendations.
- Facilitate effective communication across all levels of the organization, translating technical detail into business language and business requirements into actionable delivery scope.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests; maintain RAID logs and drive timely resolution to protect schedule, budget, scope, and quality.
- Manage interdependencies across concurrent initiatives — including shared master data, system integrations, and constrained resources — so that one project’s decisions do not destabilize another.
- Apply fit-for-purpose delivery methodology — waterfall, agile, or hybrid — selecting the right cadence for each initiative; lead planning sessions, working sessions, and retrospectives, and run agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, stand-ups) where applicable.
- Establish, document, and continuously improve project management standards, templates, and best practices (intake, prioritization, stage gates, change control, and documentation), and drive their adoption across the project portfolio.
- Define and track key metrics, milestones, and success criteria for each project; report progress against baseline on scope, schedule, budget, and quality, and keep delivery on plan.
- Establish benefits and value tracking and lead post-implementation reviews to confirm that delivered solutions achieve the business case, drive adoption, and produce a measurable return on investment
- Lead RFQ/RFP processes and vendor selection for systems and services; develop evaluation criteria, coordinate demonstrations and scoring, and support negotiation of statements of work, milestones, and acceptance terms.
- Manage implementation partners and software vendors against contracted scope, deliverables, and timelines; govern change orders, hold partners accountable to commitments, and validate deliverable quality before sign-off.
- Facilitate requirements gathering and process mapping with functional owners; ensure current- and future-state processes, data, and integration needs are documented and signed off before build.
- Coordinate testing cycles (unit, integration, and user acceptance) and cutover/go-live planning, including data migration validation, defect triage, and clear readiness criteria.
- Lead change management and end-user readiness — communications, training, and hyper care — to drive adoption and embed sustainable process improvements following go-live.
- 'Qualifications'
- Project Budget & Cost Control- Own project budgets and forecasts; track actuals against plan, partner with Finance on capitalization versus expense treatment, and report cost-to-complete with clear variance drivers.
- Resource & Capacity Planning- Plan and coordinate internal and partner resources across concurrent projects; identify capacity constraints and conflicts early and work with functional leaders to rebalance assignments and protect committed timelines.
- Vendor & Contract Governance- Manage software and services vendors against statements of work and service levels; coordinate renewals, change orders, and issue escalation, and maintain a single source of truth for project commitments and deliverables.
- Education Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field. PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred; MBA an asset.
- Experience 5+ years leading technical, IT, or business-systems projects, including at least one full-lifecycle enterprise system implementation (e.g., ERP, HRIS, or quality/manufacturing systems). Direct experience with one or more of our core platforms is strongly preferred: Epicor (ERP), Dayforce (HCM/payroll), Microsoft 365, and IATF 16949 quality-system requirements. Demonstrated, proven experience leading change management and post-go-live/hyper care management is required. Manufacturing or multi-site environment preferred.
- Job Specific Skills Proven delivery of complex technical projects on time and on budget; strong command of project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, and hybrid) and the systems implementation lifecycle; excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills; strong analytical and problem-solving ability; vendor, SOW, and RFQ/RFP management; familiarity with enterprise platforms and integrations (ERP, HRIS, BI/reporting, and workflow/automation, including cloud/SaaS); proven change management and post-go-live (hyper care) management capability, with a track record of driving user adoption and embedding sustainable process improvements; working knowledge of data governance and security compliance, with the ability to embed these controls through system transitions; comfortable leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with minimal direction.
