About this Opportunity
The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for the year-round care, maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and presentation of the landscaped grounds and exterior areas within ABNA's portfolio of properties. The role performs routine and seasonal groundskeeping and landscape maintenance, including lawn care, gardening, vegetation maintenance, seasonal cleanup, snow and ice maintenance, and exterior property upkeep. The role may also perform related indoor property upkeep and cleanliness duties where required to support the overall condition and presentation of ABNA properties. As a key on-site representative of ABNA, the Grounds Maintenance Technician takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, attractive, and well-kept properties and provides courteous and professional service to tenants, customers, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
The Building Operations Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Perform routine and seasonal lawn and landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, watering, weeding, planting, mulching, pruning, and general care of lawns, gardens, shrubs, hedges, trees, and landscaped areas.
- Complete seasonal grounds cleanup, including spring and fall cleanup, leaf collection, removal of branches and tree debris, and preparation of landscaped areas for changing seasons.
- Perform snow and ice maintenance, including shovelling, snow blowing, clearing entrances and walkways, and applying approved ice-control materials as required to maintain safe pedestrian access.
- Clean and maintain exterior building features and fixtures as part of property upkeep, including removing cobwebs, dirt, vegetation, and debris from entrances, exterior lighting, security cameras, signage, and similar areas.
- Safely operate lawnmowers, string trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, snow blowers, and other landscaping and grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
- Perform routine operator inspections, cleaning, charging, and basic maintenance of assigned groundskeeping tools and equipment, and report equipment requiring repair or service.
- Perform all work in accordance with applicable safety requirements and actively participate in the Company's Health and Safety Program.
- Support established property security and life-safety procedures while maintaining a courteous, friendly, and professional presence when interacting with tenants, customers, contractors, and visitors.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the nature and scope of the position.
Qualifications/Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, gardening, property grounds maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience safely operating lawn and landscape maintenance equipment, power tools, and seasonal groundskeeping equipment is preferred.
- Experience with customer service and communicating directly with tenants, clients, or members of the public is preferred.
- A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license, or an equivalent license recognized in Ontario, is required.
