About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, and under the technical supervision of the lead reliability engineer, the Electrical & Automation Engineer is a core member of Canada Royal Milk’s technical team. The Electrical & Automation Engineer works collaboratively with plant production, maintenance, engineering team and quality assurance to continuously improve equipment and plant performance.
The Electrical & Automation Engineer is responsible and the main contact for all aspects of the electrical distribution systems, electrical equipment and automation. They will spearhead and manage improvement of the electrical plant maintenance program, machine reliability, and calibrations. The engineer will also lead root cause analysis, provide guidance to operators on equipment operation and maintenance procedures and develop new procedures and practices to support the overall TPM program. They will also lead capital projects and new machine installations.
The Engineer demonstrates independent judgment in the planning, prioritization, and execution of projects, assignments and communications.

Job Requirements
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience: 5+ years in a manufacturing environment, with hands-on experience in electrical equipment and instrumentation.
- License: P. Eng is considered an Asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience programming with Rslogix5000 and Wonderware. Experience with Siemens is considered an asset.
- Experience programming machines to achieve functionality and ensure components communicate with each other.
- Proven ability reading schematics is required.
- Experience in maintaining, and improving electrical systems such as transformers, switchgear, UPS, lighting.
- Experience with Instrumentation calibrations for regulated industries
- Proven ability to manage projects ranging from VFD upgrade, programming overhauls, to new installations
- Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and ability to contact experts as needed
- Experience in sizing, maintaining and upgrading VFDs, pumps, robots, conveyors.
- Experience with CMMS software and PSHSRs is considered an asset
- Experience in Pharmaceutical or Food and Beverage facilities are considered an asset
- High level of initiative

- Fast learning ability, able to learn things and pick it up quickly.
- Able to make data driven and informed decisions and articulate them to the management team
- Strong time management and organization skills, able to manage concurrent projects, priorities and manage stakeholder expectations
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- As a core member of the Engineering team, lead by example to create a culture that promotes safety and compliance
- Participate in the oversight of manufacturing equipment installation, testing, operation and improvement
- Ability to work hands on and understand the fundamental of electrical and automation systems
- Responsible for programming and electrical changes for the facility. This includes PLCs, Robot programming, and power distribution
- Provide technical support to operations and plant maintenance staff for troubleshooting equipment, coordinating efforts and expediting repairs
- Coordinate and lead projects with cross-functional departments (Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, IT, Process Engineers) and external contractors to ensure equipment effectiveness, reliability, and safety
- Develop documentation for the automation equipment and write maintenance procedures
- Lead root cause analyses for equipment failure and develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with plant electricians and instrumentation technicians to manage and improve the maintenance program using a CMMS
- Responsible for creating and improving the Electrical and Instrumentation PMs
- Drive energy cost and efficiency improvements across our operations

Working Conditions
This role requires flexibility to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. The Jr Mechanical Reliability Engineer may be required to work outside regular business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on production needs.
Working conditions include:
- Primarily administrative duties with regular presence on the plant floor
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Physical activity including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and occasional heavy lifting (up to 22.6 kg / 50 lbs)
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hard hats, gloves
- Compliance with strict hygiene and food safety protocols
- Restrictions on loose clothing, jewelry, and electronic devices in production areas

Pay: $70,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
