Our Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Fitter/Welder to join our team. Reporting to our Plant Supervisor, you will work as part of a skilled team composed of welders, machinists, and plasma operators. The successful candidate will have fitting and welding experience, and will be responsible for producing components that adhere to stringent quality standards.
Your Responsibilities
- Read and correctly interpret blueprints, drawings, and shop sketches
- Measure, fit, and assemble structural steel and fabricated components
- Perform MIG, FCAW, and/or stick welding as required
- Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, drills, and other assorted shop tools
- Assist in the training of junior welders and fitters, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety protocols
- Assist in training of new staff on machining techniques and safety protocols
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Other tasks and duties, as required
What You Need
- Previous experience as a fitter/welder in a fabrication or structural steel environment
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes
- Ability to read and accurately interpret a wide variety of technical customer and shop drawings
- Unfailing attention to detail and commitment to quality
- The ability to work within a fast-paced manufacturing facility while maintaining high quality and safety standards
- Safety-concious mindset
- CWB certification is an asset
