Position Overview:
The Maintenance Worker is an ambassador of the marina and acts as the liaison between patrons, and Wright’s Marina/St. Amants Marinas Inc. Maintenance employees are responsible for all maintenance, docks and buildings on the property and other construction projects.
Beginning and end of season duties may include assisting with Spring Launch, Fall Haul-outs, block and trailer boats, shrink wrapping, shrink wrap removal, buffing & waxing, power-washing and acid washes.
Winter season consists of snow removal (including shoveling), preventive maintenance and renovations of our motels and Air BnBs.
Essential Job Functions
General
- Follow all Marina policies and procedures (e.g., health and safety, environmental, time off)
- Provide exceptional friendly and professional customer service to all marina patrons by interacting with them in a personable manner to guarantee a pleasant and safe stay
- Report and document any incidents and or safety concerns directly and immediately
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or delegate
- Make recommendations for improvements to management
- Work outside in all weather conditions
Maintenance
- Maintain harbour area, public restrooms, shower facilities, water systems, boiler room and other systems in both marinas
- General repairs and PMs: (trim, flooring, drywall, etc.)
- Assist with creating day to day tasks, long term projects and preventive maintenance lists
- Execute and complete tasks and projects within a reasonable period
- Follow and comply with building codes
- Construct, repair and maintain docks
Launches and Haul Outs
- Shrink wrap boats
- Assist with buff & wax boats, shrink wrap boats (as required)
- Assist with acid washes (as required)
- Assist with block and trailer boats (as required)
- Tow boats (if licensed and as required)
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role
- Available to work Monday to Sunday, including statutory holidays
- Must have a valid G license and clean abstract
- Must be mechanically inclined and have a basic understanding of systems
- Experience with general construction/renovations
- Must have experience with general carpentry (skill saw, chop saw, chain saw, etc.)
- Experience with basic plumbing
- Experience with the operation of yard/maintenance equipment
Additional Assets but not a requirement
- Boat handling and knowledge of nautical terminology or the ability to learn quickly
- Experience with electrical (120/240 volt)
- Experience with roofing
- Own tools and toolbox
- Competent to operate front end loader, skid steer and tractor
- Experience with welding
- A or AZ license
- Experience in welding an asset
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certification
- Ability to swim and tread water for two minutes

Working Conditions
- Required to move, lift, carry, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50lbs without assistance
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, reach, and pull for extended periods
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling
- Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Exposure to loud engine/equipment noise
- Exposure to fuel odors and hazardous substances
