New Afton
Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 105,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About the Role
Schedule: 5/2 or 4/3, Day shift only
Position Reports To: Tailings & Surface General Supervisor
As a key member of the New Afton Surface team, the Site Facilities Industrial Carpenter is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality carpentry and building maintenance services across site.
This hands-on role is ideally suited to a Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter who brings strong trade expertise and the ability to independently plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance work. The successful candidate will manage the full lifecycle of assigned tasks—ranging from scope development and material procurement to scheduling and completion—while providing skilled carpentry services and supporting broader site facility maintenance needs.
Deliver high-quality industrial carpentry services, including structural repairs, installations, and finishing work, while supporting related site maintenance activities.
Respond effectively and efficiently to emergent and urgent facility issues (e.g., waterline failures, heating interruptions, plumbing emergencies).
Scope jobs, identify required materials, coordinate procurement, and execute work to completion with minimal supervision.
General Maintenance Activities:
Perform plumbing and drainage repairs, including troubleshooting, clearing blockages, and replacing fixtures or minor piping.
Minimum 4 years of post-apprenticeship experience in carpentry, facilities maintenance, building construction, or industrial site environments.
Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute work independently, including material identification and procurement.
Experience with work management systems (e.g., SAP) including work order creation, planning, and tracking is an asset.

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
- Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
- Provide proof of a valid driver’s license
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
- Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $76,000 to $90,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
