Qualitree is a 100-acre horticultural operation that has been growing plants and people since 1996. At peak we have close to 200 people on site - permanent staff, seasonal workers, contract workers and people who have come from the other side of the world to work here. The site is big, busy, and constantly moving. Keeping it clean, safe, and well-maintained is not a small job. That is what this role is here to do.
The Role
This is a hands-on, physical job. You will spend most of your time on your feet - walking the site, working alongside a small team of seasonal and contract workers, and making sure the greenhouses, offices, portacabins, staff housing, and grounds are clean, safe, and looked after. You will plan the work, set the pace, and do a fair share of it yourself.
You will also be the person people come to when they notice a hazard or have a safety concern. That part of the job matters as much as the cleaning. When a worker from Guatemala or Mexico spots something unsafe, you want them to feel comfortable walking up to you and saying so. That only happens if you are visible, approachable, and genuinely present - not managing from a distance.
On the safety side, you will represent the employer on our Joint Health and Safety Committee, keep inspection and incident records accurate, and make sure we are handling any hazardous materials the right way.
If This Is You
You take pride in a well-run site. You notice what needs doing without being asked, and you follow through. You are comfortable directing others but not above picking up a mop yourself - in fact, that is how you set the standard.
You are the kind of person who gets to know the workforce - not just the permanent team but the seasonal workers too, whatever their background or language. People trust you because you show up, you listen, and you deal with things.
You do not need a long title or a big desk. You need a site that runs well and people who feel safe on it.
