About Bornea Dynamics
Bornea Dynamics Limited is a Canadian technology development company specializing in advanced sensing, communications, defence, aerospace, robotics, artificial intelligence, and space systems. We develop innovative technologies ranging from RF sensing and electronic warfare systems to autonomous platforms, embedded electronics, and satellite payloads.
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an RF Engineer to join our engineering team in Beamsville, Ontario. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge radio frequency systems, software-defined radios, and signal processing technologies supporting both commercial and government programs.
The Role
The RF Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of RF systems and software-defined radio (SDR) platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with embedded software, FPGA, machine learning, and electronics engineers to develop advanced sensing, communications, and spectrum-monitoring solutions.
Projects may involve RF detection and classification systems, communications systems, electronic warfare technologies, satellite payloads, and advanced SDR-based architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test RF hardware and SDR-based systems.
- Develop RF architectures for sensing, communications, and signal intelligence applications.
- Perform link budget analysis, RF performance modelling, and system-level trade studies.
- Integrate SDR platforms with embedded processing systems and custom electronics.
- Develop and evaluate signal generation, acquisition, and processing techniques.
- Conduct laboratory and field testing of RF systems.
- Characterize system performance including sensitivity, dynamic range, selectivity, noise figure, and spectral purity.
- Support antenna selection, integration, and performance evaluation activities.
- Collaborate with embedded software engineers on real-time radio control and signal processing applications.
- Collaborate with FPGA and digital design teams on high-speed data acquisition and processing systems.
- Contribute to technical reports, customer demonstrations, and proposal activities.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of RF engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with software-defined radio platforms.
- Knowledge of RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power meters.
- Experience with RF system integration and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with communications theory and digital modulation techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with SDR platforms such as Ettus USRP, LimeSDR, BladeRF, PlutoSDR, HackRF, or similar systems.
- Experience with GNU Radio, MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent signal processing environments.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing techniques.
- Experience with RF front-end design, filtering, amplification, and frequency conversion.
- Familiarity with FPGA-based signal processing systems.
- Experience developing embedded Linux-based radio systems.
- Knowledge of spectrum monitoring, direction finding, electronic warfare, or signals intelligence systems.
- Experience with antenna design, selection, and measurement.
- Experience working on aerospace, defence, security, or advanced R&D programs.
