In-Person Christian Homeschool Educator – Elementary (Grades 2 & 5)
Location: Oakville, Ontario — In-Home
Position Type: Contract / Independent Contractor
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–3:30 PM (approximately 27.5 hours/week)
Compensation: $25/hour

About the Role
We are seeking a patient, engaging, organized, and dependable Christian Homeschool Educator to support the education of our three children in our Oakville home beginning September 2026.
Our children are 7-year-old twins entering Grade 2 and a 9-year-old entering Grade 5. We are looking for an educator who genuinely enjoys working with children and can create a warm, structured, positive learning environment while effectively supporting children at two different grade levels.
This is a Christian homeschool environment, and Christian values are an important part of our family’s approach to education and character development. We are therefore looking for someone who is comfortable working within and supporting a Christian learning environment.
We particularly value candidates who have experience working with neurodivergent children and children with different learning styles or educational needs. The ideal educator understands that children may learn, communicate, focus, and engage differently and is able to adapt their teaching approach with patience, empathy, creativity, and encouragement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction for students in Grades 2 and 5, with primary emphasis on Language Arts and Mathematics.
- Organize the school day so instructional time is effectively balanced between both grade levels.
- Provide a combination of direct instruction, guided learning, independent work, hands-on learning, and interactive activities.
- Adapt teaching methods, materials, pacing, and lesson structure to accommodate different learning styles, strengths, and educational needs.
- Apply patient and supportive teaching strategies when working with neurodivergent learners.
- Recognize when a child may benefit from a different explanation, activity, learning environment, movement break, or teaching approach.
- Create an encouraging environment that helps each child develop confidence, independence, and a positive relationship with learning.
- Use creative and interactive approaches to foster curiosity and maintain engagement.
- Reinforce positive learning habits, organization, responsibility, and respectful behaviour.
- Monitor academic progress and identify areas requiring additional reinforcement or enrichment.
- Maintain simple records of lessons completed, progress, and areas requiring additional attention.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress, challenges, successes, and recommended adjustments.
- Support a learning environment consistent with our family’s Christian values and principles.
Qualifications
Education
Preferred:
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT); or
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).
We will also consider strong candidates with education or professional experience in:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Child Development
- Educational Support
- Special Education
- Elementary tutoring
- Homeschool education
- Other relevant education or child-focused fields
Experience
- Direct experience teaching or tutoring elementary-aged children (Grades 1–6) is required.
- Experience working with neurodivergent children and/or children with diverse learning needs is strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching multiple children or grade levels simultaneously is strongly preferred.
- Previous homeschool experience is an asset but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and adjust teaching methods based on a child’s individual strengths, learning style, pace, and needs.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Elementary Curriculum, particularly Language Arts and Mathematics.

- Comfortable supporting a Christian homeschool environment and its values.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work in person in Oakville, Ontario, Monday–Friday from 10:00 AM–3:30 PM.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from our home.
- Must be willing to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- Professional and/or teaching references will be required.
