K&D Logging is looking for a Hauling Supervisor to join their team in Grande Prairie, AB.

Job Summary:
The Hauling Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of all internal (Tsayta) and external (3rd Party) trucking operations at the terminal level, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance of drivers and equipment. This role directly manages drivers, coordinates dispatch activities, and ensures operational plans are executed in alignment with company standards and customer requirements. The Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining safety compliance, supporting driver performance, and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, utilization, and service delivery. Working closely with the Senior Superintendent, this position ensures consistent communication, problem-solving, and operational control in a fast-paced trucking environment.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Supervise daily trucking operations and ensure effective dispatch execution of all trucking operations.
- Manage and support drivers, ensuring adherence to safety standards, company policies, and performance expectations.
- Coordinate dispatch, routing, and workflow to maintain efficient scheduling, coverage, and service delivery.
- Monitor operational performance, including fleet utilization and productivity, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, regulatory, and company requirements, including inspections and safe work practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for driver issues, incidents, and day-to-day operational concerns, resolving or escalating as required.
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure equipment availability, reliability, and minimal downtime for Tsayta assets.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to drivers and frontline staff to support development and accountability.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reporting, including performance tracking and incident documentation.
- Support onboarding, training, and development of new drivers and operations staff.
- Developing a safety-first culture by creating a shared sense of safety leadership among all workers through effective safety onboarding, continuous two-way feedback and modeling safety behaviors.
- Providing on-the-job training, coaching staff, and participating in recruitment.
- Conducting performance evaluations, addressing performance issues, and providing positive reinforcement, coaching and constructive feedback to team members.
- Communicating with customers and internal management, addressing concerns and escalating internally as required.
- Participating in operational efficiency initiatives and change management and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Acting as a liaison between management and field staff, communicating expectations and providing feedback.
Lead all investigations and follow up with key stakeholders on corrective action planning.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of industry-specific practices, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment, safety management systems (SMS) and relevant regulations.
- Strong Logistical skillset and knowledge of logistics business systems.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and foster collaboration.
- Proficiency using industry software, ERP systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Good ability to use excel for financial and operational purposes.
- Ability to monitor and adjust team performance metrics and motivate team members.
- A track record of strategic decision-making and sound business judgment.
- Ability to focus, plan, and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of direct industry experience in a logistics environment.
- Two (2) or more years in a supervisory or managerial role, demonstrating experience in leading teams, managing projects, and achieving operational goals.
- Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and managing timelines, budgets and achieving targets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Leadership training, logistics management.
- Class 1 Driver’s License.
- Preferred Log Hauling Experience.
Other Characteristics:
- This role is split between office-based work and field/terminal/yard environments. Field work may include outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Regular travel is required within the Grande Prairie area for on-site management and operational support; overnight stays may be required.
- Day and night shift work required.
