Spark Collaborative Practices was founded by a Speech-Language Pathologist and a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst with nearly 40 years of combined clinical experience. Spark brings speech and language and applied behaviour analysis together under one roof because language and behaviour are deeply intertwined, and every child learns differently.
We work hand-in-hand with families, caregivers, and community professionals to understand each child’s priorities, complete thoughtful assessments, and build individualized, evidence-based plans that support growth at home, at school, and in the community. Position Summary
We are hiring a full-time Communicative Disorders Assistant / Communication Health Assistant (CDA/CHA) to work on an interdisciplinary team and under the direct supervision of our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), implementing individualized speech and language programming for children and youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement individual and small-group therapy sessions from treatment plans designed by the supervising SLP in the areas of covering articulation, language, social communication, and AAC programming
- Prepare, adapt, and organize therapy materials, visual supports, and AAC tools ahead of sessions
- Document progress and observations in a timely accurate manner
- Engage families using a family-centred, child-led, neuroaffirming approach; including coaching caregivers on carryover strategies as directed by the SLP
- Collaborate with other members of an interdisciplinary team
- Maintain client confidentiality and uphold trauma-informed, ethical practice standards in all interactions
- Support scheduling, session-room setup, and therapy equipment/materials maintenance
Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized CDA/CHA or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) diploma or graduate certificate program (e.g., Georgian, Durham, Lambton, St. Lawrence, Conestoga College, or equivalent)
- Membership eligibility with the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDAAC) preferred
- Experience or strong interest in working with neurodiverse children and youth (ASD, ADHD, anxiety, communication disorders, language and literacy, etc)
- Familiarity with AAC systems, visual supports, and behavioural strategies considered an asset
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to accurate clinical documentation
- Comfort working within a clearly defined scope of practice, under active SLP supervision
Compensation & Hours
- $28.00–$33.00/hour, commensurate with experience
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Paid professional development and ongoing mentorship from registered SLP(s)
Location
Fredericton, New Brunswick — hybrid of in-clinic and work from home, with possible community/in-home sessions
