We're looking for a detail-oriented and organized Payroll & Finance Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate records, solving problems, and supporting multiple departments in a fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with HR, Operations, and Finance to support payroll administration, benefits programs, workforce reporting, and financial data management across the organization.
Hourly Rate: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager, HR & Payroll, the Payroll & Finance Assistant is responsible for assisting with LN's payroll and benefits programs while providing administrative and financial support to LN's Finance leadership team.
This position works closely with Operations, HR, and Finance to maintain data integrity, support employees, and uphold LN's commitment to accuracy, transparency, and exceptional service delivery. The successful candidate will help ensure payroll and benefits activities are administered accurately while supporting project timekeeping, financial reporting, billing requirements, and accounting processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll & Benefits Support
Assist with processing bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employee groups
Review, audit, and reconcile time and attendance entries including shift approvals, overtime, vacation, statutory holidays, and leaves
Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies in partnership with HR and operational leaders
Maintain employee payroll records, wage changes, deductions, and employment status updates
Assist with the administration of employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and renewals
Calculate and reconcile employee benefit deductions
Liaise with benefit carriers, plan administrators, and third-party providers
Support employees with benefits inquiries, claims questions, and leave processes
Assist with annual benefits renewals, reporting, audits, and remittances
Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, and year-end activities
Finance & Operations Support
Assist in generating, validating, and entering high volumes of financial and operational data related to payables, receivables, payroll, and employee time records
Ensure accurate and timely collection of project and job-related timekeeping data
Support Labour Equipment Management (LEM) administration, billing requirements, and workforce reporting activities
Assist with invoice processing, expense tracking, document management, and record maintenance
Support account reconciliations and financial data verification activities
Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation for Finance and Operations teams
Maintain organized financial records and electronic filing systems
Provide support and backup to Operations teams as required
Assist clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders with administrative inquiries
Support month-end, year-end, and audit preparation activities
Compliance & Administration
Maintain accurate employee records within payroll and HR systems
Ensure payroll and employee information is handled confidentially and professionally
Support payroll audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements
Maintain payroll, benefits, and administrative procedures and documentation
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and special projects
Support data integrity and reporting initiatives across multiple departments
QUALIFICATIONS
2-3+ years of payroll , accounting , finance , HR , or administrative experience
Strong proficiency in accounting principles and financial administration
Experience with payroll processing and employee benefits administration
Strong understanding of Canadian employment standards and payroll legislation
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with competing deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational ability
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

WORK CONDITIONS
This position is based in our Edmonton Head Office and operates during standard business hours.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines. Occasional flexibility may be required during payroll processing periods, month-end activities, year-end reporting, and audit preparation.
The role requires a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, accuracy, and collaboration with HR, Operations, Finance, leadership teams, clients, and vendors.
