Payroll and Accounting Coordinator

BGCBigs is seeking individuals interested in the following position:

Status: Full-Time Position

Salary Range: $58,000-$63,000 annually

The key responsibilities of this position will include:

· Coordinating all aspects of the organization's semi-monthly payroll, benefits administration, employee record maintenance, statutory remittances, T4s, ROEs, and payroll reporting.

· Serving as the primary contact for payroll and timekeeping inquiries while working closely with Human Resources on employee changes and benefit administration.

· Processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee expense claims, credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and general bookkeeping functions.

· Reconciling bank accounts and balance sheet accounts while identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies.

· Assisting with month-end and year-end financial reporting, variance reporting, GST returns, CRA filings, and charity reporting requirements.

· Supporting donor and funder financial tracking, including maintaining financial records within DonorPerfect and issuing charitable tax receipts.

· Preparing financial information required for grant reporting, departmental projects, and fundraising initiatives.

· Supporting annual audits by preparing working papers and assisting external auditors.

· Maintaining accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and organizational policies.

· Providing administrative and accounting support to the Finance team while continually seeking opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies.

The successful candidate will have:

· A degree or diploma in Accounting, HR, Finance, or a related field with an in-process CPA designation being an asset.

· Three to five years of progressive payroll and/or accounting experience, preferably within a charitable or non-profit organization.

· Demonstrated experience with payroll processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

· Experience preparing documentation for annual audits and working with external auditors.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles, payroll legislation, and financial management practices.

· Experience using accounting software such as ACCPAC/Sage and payroll systems such as ADP.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

· Knowledge of CRA charitable requirements, GST reporting, donor receipting, and non-profit financial practices would be considered an asset.

· Exceptional organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across the organization.

· Ability to work flexible hours. Agency operates with a 37.5 hours per week.

· A clear Police Information Check and Child Intervention Record Check no more than 6 months old are conditions of hire.
