Armstrong Custom Cabinets
Port Kells, Surrey, BC
Full-time
Pay: $30 to $35 per hour
Close Enough Isn’t Good Enough Here
A cabinet can be out by a few millimetres and still look fine to some people. We are not looking for some people.
Armstrong Custom Cabinets is a small, established custom cabinetry and millwork company based in Port Kells, Surrey. For more than 20 years, we have built and installed custom kitchens, vanities, commercial millwork, built-ins, insurance restorations, and specialty projects throughout the Lower Mainland.
We are looking for an experienced cabinet installer and millworker who knows the trade, thinks before acting, solves problems, and takes personal pride in leaving a jobsite clean and the work done right.
This is not an entry-level position. You must have hands-on cabinet installation and millwork experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installing custom cabinets, built-ins, panels, trim, hardware, and millwork
- Reading and working from drawings, measurements, and installation plans
- Levelling, plumbing, scribing, fitting, fastening, and adjusting cabinetry
- Identifying jobsite problems before they become costly callbacks
- Finding practical solutions when site conditions do not match the drawing
- Protecting customers’ homes, commercial spaces, and finished surfaces
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Communicating clearly with the shop, customers, contractors, and other trades
- Working independently when required and alongside the team on larger installations
- Representing Armstrong Custom Cabinets professionally on every site
Mandatory Requirements
Please read this section carefully. Every requirement listed below is mandatory.
- Proven cabinet installation and millwork experience
- Valid B.C. driver’s licence
- Reliable ability to report to our Port Kells shop for an 8:00 a.m. start
- Ability to communicate clearly in English for safety, customer communication, and jobsite coordination
- Availability to work our regular 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule
- Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekend hours when projects require it
- Ability to work safely and effectively alone or with a team
- Ability to safely perform the physical duties involved in cabinet installation
- Professional attitude when working inside customers’ homes and businesses
General construction experience without cabinet installation and millwork experience will not qualify.
If your application does not clearly show relevant cabinet installation or millwork experience, it will not move forward.
The Person We Want
You are a self-starter. You do not need someone standing behind you all day telling you what comes next.
You are conscientious. You look at the full situation, think through the consequences, and make decisions that protect the work, the customer, and the company.
You are dependable. If the day starts at 8:00 a.m., you are ready to work at 8:00 a.m. You understand that the rest of the crew should never be left waiting because you slept through your alarm.
You are a team player. You share information, carry your weight, help when needed, and treat coworkers with respect.
You can also work alone. You stay productive, make sound decisions, and communicate quickly when something requires approval.
Most importantly, you care about the finished product. You notice crooked doors, uneven reveals, damaged edges, sloppy caulking, and bad alignment because your name is attached to the work too.
I built this around Armstrong’s real identity: a five-person Surrey shop with more than 20 years of experience in custom cabinetry, kitchen and insurance restoration, commercial millwork, built-ins, and specialty projects. The company’s stated culture is precision, straight talk, personal ownership, and refusing to cut corners. Armstrong Custom Cabinets About Armstrong
