Ocean is currently seeking an experienced Concrete Pump Operator to join our team in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of concrete pumping equipment on a variety of commercial, residential, and civil construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate concrete pump trucks and related equipment.
- Set up and position the concrete pump at job sites in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate boom and pumping equipment while maintaining awareness of workers, equipment, overhead hazards, power lines, and site conditions.
- Communicate effectively with ready-mix drivers, site supervisors, concrete crews, and customers.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Complete routine cleaning and maintenance of the pump, boom, hopper, pipes, hoses, and related equipment.
- Identify and report mechanical or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate inspection and operating records.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist with equipment and site duties as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Must have minimum 1 year Concrete Pumping experience.
- Previous experience operating a concrete pump, preferably boom pump equipment.
- A valid Class 3 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement.
- A strong understanding of concrete pumping operations and job-site safety.
- Experience working around ready-mix concrete and construction crews.
- Ability to safely operate equipment around overhead power lines, utilities, workers, and other equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
- A dependable attitude and strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Mechanical knowledge and experience performing basic equipment maintenance would be considered an asset.
Applicants must be dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to work flexible hours depending on project requirements. Early mornings, extended hours, and occasional weekend work may be required during the busy construction season.
