Position Type: Temporary Project Position
Term: September 2026 to June 2027 (approximately 9 months)
Hours: 28-35 hours per week, to be discussed with candidate
Location: Kootenay Region (remote work possible, travel required. Preference given to candidates outside Creston area to support broad regional coverage)
Wage: $30-$36 + benefits
Position Purpose
The Workforce Research Coordinator (WRC) will play a lead role in a regional workforce development initiative focused on identifying skills shortages and workforce challenges faced by employers across the Kootenay region.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, the WRC will coordinate employer engagement activities, conduct workforce research, gather labour market intelligence, and analyze findings to support project recommendations. This role requires a combination of relationship-building, facilitation, project coordination, and research skills to ensure employer perspectives are meaningfully reflected in project outcomes.
The information gathered through this project will help inform the development of employer-informed training and micro-credentials by the College of the Rockies.

- Are interested in supporting workforce and economic development in the Kootenay region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct employer outreach, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and consultations.
- Coordinate virtual and in-person engagement activities throughout the region.
- Collect, organize, and summarize workforce and labour market information.
- Support project reporting and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Represent KES professionally with employers and community partners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience independently planning and facilitating meetings, interviews, focus groups, consultations, or stakeholder engagement activities.
- Demonstrated research experience, including collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and professional reports, summaries, and presentations.
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of workforce development, labour market issues, or economic development is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Kootenay business community and experience working directly with employers to understand workforce needs, recruitment challenges, and skills gaps is considered a significant asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other digital collaboration tools.
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, appropriate insurance, and ability to travel throughout the Kootenay region.
