What does a Mould Maker do?
- Manufacture close tolerance mould components & assembly tooling
- Safely operate conventional mills, lathes and surface grinders
- Set up and operate 3 axis CNC machining centers
- Set up and operate CNC surface grinders
- Set up and operate Wire and Sink EDM machines
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on injection moulds and dies
- Maintain PM and tool change documentation
- Programming and set up CNC machines
- Perform trouble shooting of moulds, dies and other tooling
- Work with engineering, provide input to produce effective tooling
- Interact with all departments at all levels
- Other related duties as required
What do you bring to the table
- 5+ years Tool and die maker or mould maker
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Ability to set-up and operate all Toolroom machinery
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Ability to build moulds, jigs, fixtures and assembly tooling to close tolerances
- CNC set up experience
- Ability to multi- task and switch priorities as required
- Ability to train / mentor toolroom helpers or apprentices
- Computer literate (Windows, MS word and Excel)
- Be a good team player
- Ability to make sound cost effective technical decisions
- Ability to work flexible hours, shifts and overtime as required to meet company schedules.
- Strong GD&T Interpretation ability
- EDM programming and Setup
Desired:
- Experience with Agie/GF, Fanuc controls.
- Experience with CAM software – preferably Gibbs CAM
- Experience with CAD design software, preferably SolidWorks
- Experience manufacturing small parts with tight tolerances
- Injection moulding experience
- Knowledge of Mold flow analysis software as an asset
