The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the diverse cultures and histories of local Indigenous communities. They must have demonstrated experience in applying Indigenous knowledge in a professional setting, adhering to cultural protocols, and working with a culturally safe approach. Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) Calls to Action and a commitment to advancing reconciliation are essential.
The Senior Project Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations and it’s responsible for providing leadership and oversight for multiple projects and project teams. The position is accountable for promoting safety culture, ensuring the successful execution of projects, maintaining compliance with contractual requirements, and delivering operational and financial performance in alignment with corporate objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for multiple concurrent construction projects with combined contract values exceeding $30 million.
- Develop and mentor Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and field leadership while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Coordinate and lead weekly project team meetings to review safety performance, schedule, cost, risks, opportunities, and resource requirements, ensuring action items are tracked and communicated. Provide regular reporting and updates to the Director of Operations on project performance, key issues, and strategic initiatives across the portfolio.
- Lead contract administration activities, ensuring contractual obligations, notices, claims, and project documentation are managed in accordance with contract requirements while proactively managing risks and opportunities.
- Manage scope changes and change management processes by identifying, quantifying, pricing, and negotiating changes to the work, ensuring all impacts are documented and recovered in accordance with contract requirements.
- Coordinate with estimating, operations, maintenance, and support departments to optimize manpower and equipment utilization across projects.
- Provide leadership and direction to Project Managers, Engineers, Coordinators, consultants, and field teams to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Lead project cost control, forecasting, productivity analysis, and field-level estimating to maximize profitability.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with clients, Indigenous partners, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to support successful project execution and future business opportunities.
- Promote and enforce Duz Cho's safety culture by ensuring projects are executed in accordance with corporate safety standards, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Provide overall leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from bid turnover and mobilization through execution and project closeout.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
- Be willing to travel within Western Canada on a rotational basis to meet project needs.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a project management role, overseeing civil construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop Project Managers, Coordinators, and field supervision.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams with combined contract values exceeding $30 million.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, Indigenous partners, and cross-functional teams including operations, estimating, project controls, safety, equipment, and finance.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction practices, project budgeting, schedule management, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands across multiple projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software such as HCSS HeavyJob, HeavyBid, MS Project, or previous experience with equivalent management systems.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours as required to support project schedules, operational demands, and critical project milestones.
- Positive attitude and flexible in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

- Valid Driver’s License & Drivers Abstract.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Programs;
- Knowledge of Heavy build would be an asset; and,
- CET, PMP or CMT certification is a plus.
- Being able to pass an Alcohol / Drug test will be a condition of employment.
Location: Various project locations across British Columbia
Employment Type: Full time; as per site requirements.
Work Schedule: Shift rotation: Hybrid and various rotations to meet project requirements
Wage: $55 - $65 per hour based on experience, overtime as required.
Truck Allowance: Company provided or vehicle allowance.
