Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cabinet Maker/Installer to join our small custom cabinetry and millwork team that is family owned and operated. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing custom cabinets and related woodwork in residential and commercial settings. Teaching and training 1-2 apprentices. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprint reading, cabinetry, and various construction techniques to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and precise installation. The position offers opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic environment focused on excellence in craftsmanship. Primary work is new home construction along with renovations, small amount of commercial projects.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately construct cabinetry and wood fixtures.
- Fabricate cabinets and custom woodwork using hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and other woodworking equipment.
- Perform precise measurements, cuts, and assembly of cabinet components according to specifications.
- Install cabinets, countertops, shelving, and other fixtures securely in various locations.
- Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and finishing during installation to meet quality standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Assist with related tasks such as restoration work, cabinetry staining and finishing.
- Teach and train apprentices throughout the apprenticeship period, sign off and complete bluebooks accordingly.
Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and schematics interpretation.
- Experience with cabinet installation, woodworking, carpentry, and assembly processes.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery (not mandatory), and other woodworking equipment.
- Knowledge of construction practices throughout new home construction and renovations to help with installation and on site problem solving.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- General construction background highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments. Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyman Certificate (interprovical) NON-Negotiable
- Minimum 3 years of journeyman-level experience in a custom cabinetry shop
- Strong ability to read shop drawings, blueprints and specifications
- Proficiency with standard shop machinery, power tools and hand tools
- Solid understanding of materials, joinery, and cabinet construction methods
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Training apprentices throughout the apprenticeship period along with completion of blue book
- High attention to detail and craftsmanship for the the trade
- Resident of Canada
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence and clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to our Shop located in Bennett AB near Langdon AB (and occasionally to project sites in Calgary)
- Commitment to workplace safety and willingness to wear PPE when required
Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
