About the position

Reporting to the Regional Assistant Director, Outreach and Engagement, the Senior Regional Representative, located in Calgary, Alberta, is one of five such positions across Canada. Senior Regional Representatives are responsible for developing business relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders and identifying emerging currency-related issues and areas for growth in the region. This position works with their senior level counterparts across the country, and as a team, are responsible for delivering outreach activities and promoting awareness of bank notes and currency initiatives.

What you will do

As the Senior Regional Representative, you will build strong relationships with key external stakeholders—such as law enforcement, financial institutions, retailers, and civil society groups. These partnerships will help you monitor regional trends and support the Currency Department’s education and compliance goals.

You will gather and analyze data on issues like counterfeiting, cash usage, and bank note quality, and support the rollout of new bank notes through regional events and media engagement.

You’ll contribute to regional strategic planning, work with other departments to align efforts, and support senior visits by coordinating local engagement. You will also take part in cross-departmental projects and keep leadership informed of emerging trends to support timely decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and maintain relationships with regional stakeholders
Lead outreach and engagement activities
Monitor and analyze regional trends and issues
Support new bank note issuance and act as a media spokesperson
Contribute to strategic planning and cross-functional initiatives
Provide regular updates on regional developments.

What You Need to Succeed

You have:

Proven relationship-building and networking skills with the ability to nurture trusted partnerships and act with tact in multi-stakeholder settings
Experience planning and executing stakeholder engagement initiatives, and aligning them with strategic objectives
Proficiency in data analysis and advanced interpretation capabilities, including managing datasets and presenting insights through clear narratives and visualizations
Strong problem-solving and research skills, enabling you to assess evolving issues and translate findings into innovative, practical solutions
Influencing and persuasion skills that support effective decision-making and collaboration in complex environments
Clear, concise communication abilities (oral, written, and presentation) suited to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
Sound judgment in planning, negotiation, and decision-making aligned with the Department’s risk appetite
An ability to identify opportunities for AI and machine learning to automate processes, enhance intelligence, and strengthen operational value
Resilience under pressure, including the capacity to manage sensitive, high-visibility situations and competing priorities with discretion and professionalism

Additional requirements: Must be willing to travel within the Prairie region – Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northwest Territories up to 25%-35% of the time, as well as travel to national headquarters in Ottawa 1-2 times per year.

Your education and experience

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Communications, Criminology, Public Administration), with a minimum of eight years of work experience in such discipline. We may also consider a combination of education and experience.

Language requirement

The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Training may be provided to help reach the required level. Both bilingual and unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $126,765 to $149,135 (job grade 18)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

- Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
- Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
