About the Position
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented accounting professional to support bookkeeping, tax preparation, and client accounting services for a portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving accounting challenges, interacting with clients, and helping businesses maintain accurate financial records and meet their reporting obligations.
The successful candidate will be self-directed, dependable, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple client files while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple client companies
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable management
- Bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
- Payroll processing and payroll remittance reporting
- GST/HST preparation and filing
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Preparation of working papers and schedules for year-end reporting
- Preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns (T2)
- Assistance with SR&ED claim preparation (T661) and supporting documentation
- CRA correspondence and client support
- Monitoring deadlines and ensuring timely completion of client deliverables
- Maintaining organized electronic records and client files
- Providing management accounting insights and financial reporting support to clients
- Assisting with process improvements and workflow management
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, certificate, or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3+ years of bookkeeping and accounting experience
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online
- Experience preparing corporate tax returns using TaxCycle or equivalent tax software
- Strong understanding of:
- Corporate income tax (T2)
- GST/HST reporting
- Payroll accounting and remittances
- Financial statement preparation
- General accounting principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple client files and competing deadlines
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with TaxCycle Tax Preparation software
- Experience preparing SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development / T661) claims
- Experience working in a public practice accounting environment
- Familiarity with CaseWare, Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software
- Knowledge of Alberta corporate and small business accounting requirements
- Completion of, or progress toward, a CPA designation
- Experience communicating directly with CRA on behalf of clients
- Experience dealing directly with CRA reviews, requests, and correspondence.
- Ability to prepare year-end working papers for external accountants.

Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capabilities.
Flexible scheduling is available for the right candidate. The position is initially part-time but may evolve into a full-time role based on workload and performance.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
