Laser Operator

At Custom Metal Contracting, we are looking for bright and energetic team members to join our team. We are hiring for day, afternoon and evening shifts.

What You'll Do:

· Prepare, make proper set-ups for laser cutting operations.

· Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.

· Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes. Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point

· Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns and programs.

· Ensure that every machine procedure is done in accordance with the strict guidelines of the company.

· Follow all company safety protocol.

· Inspect the work area and machines that were used during the day prior to leaving at the end of each shift.

· Attend and actively participate in training classes and safety sessions.

· Perform regular maintenance on laser machines as required.

· Check and inspect finished parts.

What Experience and Education You Need:

· Ability to safely operate laser machinery and work independently.

· High school diploma required.

· Must possess strong basic math skills.

· Excellent hand-eye coordination.

· Attention to detail.

· Ability to follow safety procedures.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

· Computer literacy and familiarity with CNC.

· Experience in the manufacturing environment.

· 1+ year of manufacturing and laser operator experience.

· Proven history of working with gauges and calipers.

· Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks

Physical Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions for this position and meet the physical requirements needed to perform them, including but not limited to frequently requiring the ability to lift up to 70lbs use close vision, use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects. Employees are occasionally required to use distance vision, stand, kneel, or crouch. Reasonable accommodation may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities. While performing the essential functions of this job, the associate:

Will be required to tolerate working environment outside in all weather conditions.
Requires standing, walking and moving repetitively for the majority of hours, over the period of an 8 hour shift
Must be able to lift pallets of up to 70 lbs. and lift or carry products a minimum distance of 10 ft. without mechanical assistance.
