The Opportunity
Chinook Feeders is seeking an experienced and people-focused Human Resources Manager to join our team.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the human resources function within a growing agricultural business where people, relationships, and culture matter. Working closely with leadership and employees, the Human Resources Manager will support all aspects of the employee experience, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll and benefits administration, occupational health and safety, workforce planning, and organizational development.
We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, supporting leaders, solving problems, and creating positive employee experiences. The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution while helping drive both employee and business success.
This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, with the successful candidate expected to work on-site at least three days per week. Chinook Feeders is located at 690112 264 Street East, Nanton, AB T0L 1R0, Canada.

Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership
- Lead the human resources function and provide guidance and support to leaders and employees.
- Support workforce planning, succession planning, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain HR programs, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on people-related matters and organizational challenges.
- Support organizational growth, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Recruitment and Workforce Planning
- Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding, and workforce planning activities.
- Develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop employees.
- Build talent pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill positions.
- Support leaders in identifying current and future workforce needs.
Employee Relations and Performance Management
- Support leaders and employees in addressing workplace concerns and employment matters.
- Provide guidance on performance management, coaching, employee development, and corrective action.
- Conduct workplace investigations and facilitate conflict resolution when required.
- Support employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture initiatives.
Payroll, Benefits, and Compliance
- Oversee payroll administration and employee benefits programs.
- Support disability management, leave administration, and employee accommodations.
- Maintain employee records and HRIS data.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support Occupational Health and Safety programs and initiatives.
Temporary Foreign Worker and Immigration Programs
- Coordinate Temporary Foreign Worker and immigration programs.
- Support LMIA applications, work permits, renewals, and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with immigration consultants, legal advisors, and government agencies.
- Support foreign workers throughout recruitment, onboarding, and integration.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Five to seven years of progressive human resources experience.
- Experience in a Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Business Partner, or senior Human Resources Generalist role.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish is considered a strong asset, as this role supports a diverse workforce.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, recruitment, performance management, employment legislation, and HR best practices.
- Experience supporting agricultural, industrial, manufacturing, or operational environments is considered an asset.
- Experience with Temporary Foreign Worker programs, LMIA administration, and immigration processes is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting payroll, benefits administration, disability management, and leave administration.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
