What will you be doing!
- Completing fire safety assessments associated with the fire protection screening process.
- Completing or reviewing Fire Hazard Assessments as required.
- Assisting with oversight of the site's fire protection and fire department emergency services programs and their implementation.
- Assisting with inspection, testing and maintenance activities to be performed on fire equipment/systems.
- Completing Engineering calculations to support and confirm the adequacy of detailed designs.
- Representing the fire protection program at fire protection meetings, professional conferences, or other related committee meetings.
- Assessing design, operational, inspection, testing and maintenance requirements.
- Collaborating with Fire Systems personnel to ensure code compliance related to the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection equipment/systems
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
Education
- University Degree in engineering or applied science or equivalent experience resulting in a sound knowledge of some engineering specialty and significant related engineering working experience.
- Eligible for membership in a provincial engineering association if required.
- Preference will be given to Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
Experience
- Two or more years of experience working on fire protection systems or design preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to maintain proficiency in fire protection engineering and fire department emergency services concepts and practices through continued education, training, and periodic review of fire protection codes and standards, which apply to CNL (Canadian Nuclear Laboratories) and its contractors.
- Ability to review requirements, make recommendations, and assist with problem-solving.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
