Learn, work, be informed at SunMETA Group. Be part of a professional Team achieving its core mission of supporting student success!
SunMETA Group operates leading Western Canadian private colleges with multiple locations delivering diploma programs in both on-campus and online modalities in the business, health, hospitality, legal and technology fields.
The Opportunity
SunMETA Group is seeking a hands-on Director of Content & Community ready to take greater ownership of content strategy, team leadership, and performance delivery.
This position is ideal for a high-performing Marketing Manager or current Director who excels at conceptualizing strategies, writing exceptional content, organizing workflows, and guiding teams to deliver results. You will actively shape how our brands generate and convert leads through social media, websites, email campaigns, and video, while continuing to contribute directly to content quality and creative direction.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing and supported by a dedicated Marketing Manager, you will lead and develop a team of 8–10 marketing professionals who work together to advance our mission of Supporting Student Success.
This position will appeal to competitive, entrepreneurial marketers who are motivated by performance, accountability, and continuous improvement and who take pride in developing strong teams and delivering measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of the marketing department, you will help shape the creative direction of the organization's marketing efforts. This role combines strategy, creativity, leadership, and execution. We are looking for an experienced marketer who can generate ideas, write and edit persuasive content, direct creative projects, mentor a team, and contribute to measurable business growth.
You will:
- Develop and execute content and organic marketing strategies across social media, websites, email campaigns, video, and other channels to generate qualified leads and support student enrollment growth.
- Serve as the creative lead for major marketing initiatives, campaigns, video productions, website projects, and content development efforts.
- Lead, inspire, develop, and manage a team of 8-10 creative marketing professionals, supported by dedicated Marketing Managers, through coaching, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
- Actively contribute to marketing strategy, campaign ideation, writing, editing, and content development, ensuring all work meets high standards of clarity, persuasion, creativity, and brand consistency.
- Review, critique, and elevate creative work produced by the team, providing constructive feedback that improves quality and effectiveness.
- Partner with the Paid Media team to align messaging, creative assets, audience insights, and performance objectives.
- Use performance data, market research, audience insights, and testing results to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Drive measurable business results from marketing initiatives, including engagement, lead generation, conversion, and enrollment growth.
- Build and improve workflows, processes, and content production systems that enable the team to produce high-quality work efficiently.
- Oversee community engagement and brand presence to strengthen reputation and support the lead generation funnel.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, tone, quality, and consistency across all marketing communications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive marketing experience with direct responsibility for content strategy, campaign development, and execution, including 2-4 years leading or mentoring a creative team.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills - this is a core requirement. You are likely a former or current professional copywriter with an outstanding command of English grammar and the ability to craft persuasive marketing content that drives leads, conversions, and business results.
- Strong understanding of consumer psychology, marketing strategy, persuasion, audience research, and conversion-focused marketing.
- Experience marketing products or services in a for-profit, revenue-generating environment is strongly preferred. Candidates must understand how marketing contributes to customer acquisition, sales, conversion, and business growth.
- Demonstrated ability to build, inspire, and manage high-performing teams.
- Ability to use performance data, testing, and analytics to evaluate results and improve marketing effectiveness.
- Strong organizational, project management, workflow planning, and time-management skills, with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), Adobe Creative Suite, and common marketing platforms.
You Are
- A marketer first and a manager second. You enjoy developing marketing ideas, writing copy, reviewing creative work, and building campaigns that produce measurable results.
- An exceptional writer and editor who can quickly identify weak messaging and transform it into compelling, persuasive marketing.
- Creative and strategic. You regularly generate new ideas, angles, campaigns, and approaches rather than relying on what worked last year.
- Naturally curious. You ask questions, challenge assumptions, research competitors, and seek to understand what motivates audiences.
- Commercially minded and focused on results. You understand that marketing exists to generate customers, drive revenue, and support business growth.
- Comfortable using data and analytics to evaluate performance, test ideas, and make better marketing decisions.
- Able to move seamlessly between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
- A strong coach who develops people by raising the quality of their thinking, writing, and creative output.
- Highly detail-oriented - nothing gets past you.
- A clear communicator who handles ambiguity well and adapts quickly to new situations.
