This opportunity is with a private barn caring for a small herd of horses and family pets. The successful candidate will be a key part of daily horse care, barn maintenance, and general support to the owner, in a hands-on, trust-based environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key job functions are:
- Turn horses out and bring them in for morning and evening routines.
- Clean stalls and maintain barn cleanliness, drag pastures, arena and round pens as required.
- Clean and maintain water troughs and indoor waterers.
- Prepare horses for farrier visits and assist as needed.
- Order grain, shavings, and hay supplies as required.
- Assist with loading horses and preparing for transport.
- Accompany the owner to veterinary appointments and horse shows when required.
- Support hauling horses and ensuring documentation is prepared for travel, including cross-border requirements.
- Perform general barn, tuck and trailer maintenance as needed.
- Walk dogs and provide pet care support as requested.
- Provide house sitting and animal care coverage during owner travel.
Education:
- Completion of a horsemanship clinic or formal equine training is an asset.
- Ongoing interest in developing horsemanship knowledge and skills is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Clean criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to safely operate and reverse a truck and horse trailer.
- Willingness to take initiative and assist with planning upcoming horse care needs.
- Comfort working independently in a private barn setting.
Experience:
- Previous experience caring for horses in a private barn, boarding facility, or similar environment.
- Experience handling young horses or familiarity with the foaling process is an asset.
- Experience hauling horses or assisting with transportation logistics is preferred.
- Knowledge of cross-border horse travel documentation is an asset.
- Candidates who have grown up around horses or recently completed equine-related training are encouraged to apply.

Base Salary: $20-25/hr
- This is an hourly position based on experience and qualifications.
- Some flexibility in scheduling may be available depending on operational needs.
Work Hours:
- Part-time, Saturday & Sunday
- Occasional evenings and weekday shifts required for coverage for the full-time groom, horse shows, and travel.
Additional Notes:
- This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
