Year Round Landscaping Inc. is a well-established and growing landscape construction company operating in Calgary and surrounding areas. We are seeking an experienced and reliable Accounts Payable Specialist to support our high-volume, project-based operations and provide stability within our accounting department.
Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the full accounts payable cycle in a fast-paced landscape construction environment. This role goes beyond basic invoice entry and includes reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, and support for month-end, and participation in process improvements.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, works well with others, and is able to take and follow direction while managing competing deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full accounts payable cycle including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment runs
Match invoices to purchase orders, delivery slips, and job cost codes
Perform regular vendor statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with suppliers
Monitor AP aging and follow up on overdue or disputed items
Support month-end close through accruals, reconciliations, and AP-related reporting
Collaborate with accounting management to improve AP processes, controls, and workflow efficiency
Maintain accurate and organized AP documentation and filing systems
Act as a point of contact for AP-related questions from vendors and internal staff
Provide support to the accounting and administrative team as required
Required Qualifications
Post-secondary education in accounting or related field and/or accounting courses
3+ years of accounts payable experience in a high-volume environment (required)
Construction or landscape industry experience strongly preferred
Strong reconciliation and discrepancy resolution skills
Proficiency with accounting or ERP software
Strong Excel skills for reconciliations and reporting
Knowledge of Canadian GST and vendor compliance requirements
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Works well in a team environment and able to follow company procedures
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
