About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Groundskeeper to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the exterior areas across our residential or commercial properties. Your work plays a key part in creating a welcoming and positive environment for residents, visitors, and potential tenants.
Key Responsibilities
Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance
- Mow lawns, trim edges, prune shrubs, and maintain flower beds.
- Remove weeds, dead plants, leaves, and other landscaping debris.
- Rake, blow, and collect yard waste.
- Water lawns and landscaped areas; adjust irrigation systems as directed.
- Assist with mulching, seeding, planting flowers, and applying fertilizers.
General Grounds Cleanliness
- Pick up litter, garbage, and debris from sidewalks, parking lots, and common outdoor areas.
- Maintain cleanliness around dumpsters and recycling stations.
- Pressure wash sidewalks, walls, and exterior common areas as required.
Seasonal Responsibilities
- Perform snow and ice removal on walkways, stairs, driveways, and entrances; apply salt/sand as needed.
- Prepare landscaping for seasonal changes, such as winterization or spring planting.
Maintenance Support
- Inspect exterior spaces for hazards (broken branches, damaged fencing, trip risks) and report concerns promptly.
- Assist the maintenance team with minor exterior repairs such as fence adjustments, sign installations, or painting.
- Report pest issues, irrigation malfunctions, or unusual conditions.
- Provide general maintenance support as needed.
Resident & Staff Interaction
- Deliver courteous and professional service when engaging with residents, guests, or vendors.
- Help maintain a safe and hazard‑free outdoor environment.
- Respect the privacy and confidentiality of residents and team members.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if travel between properties is required).
- Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or similar outdoor maintenance work.
- Ability to safely operate landscaping tools and machinery (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining an attractive property.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Preferred
- Experience working at multi-family or commercial properties.
- Basic understanding of irrigation systems and landscaping schedules.
- OSHA certification or pesticide/herbicide application training.
