What Your Day Will Look Like
As the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst, you are responsible for administering, maintaining, and implementing Ecofor’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and mapping functions. You will help ensure that technology is effectively utilized to improve processes, streamline workflows, and provide actionable insights for informed decision-making.
What You’ll be Responsible for
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and update GIS databases in accordance with standards established by the GIS coordinator
- Perform routine data uploads, edit, and validate data to ensure integrity
- Create and update maps and spatial visualizations based on project requirements
- Perform spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and data preparation tasks
- Assist with implementing emerging GIS technologies and methodologies under the direction of the coordinator
- Provide technical support and guidance on GIS software and applications to external and internal interest holders
- Assist in developing figures/images using Adobe Illustrator
- Help track progress and ensure timely completion of assigned technical tasks
- Fostering positive relationships with local communities, Indigenous groups, governmental agencies and other partners.
- Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.
What Will Help You Succeed:
Our ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in GIS combined with technical proficiency and a commitment to accuracy and collaboration. You have hands-on experience with tools such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, along with a working knowledge of programming and spatial analysis. Your ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and virtual communication platforms supports effective project coordination and teamwork in both in-person and remote environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Computer Science or a related field, or diploma in GIS.
- Two years of experience in GIS analysis, database management and cartography.
- Experience with GIS software (i.e. ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Arcmap, QGIS, Adobe Illustrator) and spatial analysis tools.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Understanding of GIS software, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, and programming.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), SharePoint, and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Detail oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to build respectful partnerships with First Nations communities
- Geospatial analysis skills.
Position requires: Criminal Record Check & Valid Driver’s License

Wage Range: This is an Hourly position with a target hiring range of $32.37 to $39.82 per hour. Final placement within this range will typically be between the minimum and midpoint and is determined based on each candidate’s unique combination of skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities. We also consider factors such as market conditions and internal equity to support fair and transparent compensation practices.
Location: We have offices in several locations in western Canada, however, successful candidates who reside outside those areas can be based out of their existing home, if preferred.
