Position Summary:
The Mechanical Estimator/Coordinator supports the estimating and project delivery teams by assisting with cost estimating, bid preparation, and project coordination for commercial mechanical construction (piping systems, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration including installation of mechanical equipment). This role is ideal for a developing professional looking to build a career in estimating and project management within a fast-paced construction and service environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and support detailed cost estimates for mechanical projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing; perform quantity take-offs and analyze drawings and specifications to define project scope
· Assist with bid and tender preparation, including document review, scope breakdown, pricing summaries, and ensuring submissions meet all requirements and deadlines
· Solicit, evaluate, and track supplier and subcontractor quotations; maintain estimating platforms, unit rates, and historical cost data
· Support project transition from estimating to operations, including file setup, documentation, and material/equipment procurement
· Assist PM’s with budgets, cost tracking, change orders, billing, and overall coordination
· Coordinate with field teams to support material planning, scheduling, and project updates
· Track and manage RFIs, RFQs, submittals, procurement activities, and project documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy
· Prepare shop drawings, submittal packages, design details, and assist with engineering calculations in coordination with the project team
· Participate in site visits, project meetings, and record meeting minutes; assist with safety documentation, procedures, and compliance requirements
· Monitor project progress and support scheduling, reporting, and resolution of issues to maintain timelines and budget
· Assist with supervision of site activities and quality inspections, as required
· Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranty tracking, and turnover documentation to service and operations teams
Qualifications:
Required:
· Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field (or in progress) or Journeyperson Plumber / Gasfitter ticket with PM experience
· 3-5 years of experience in construction, mechanical systems, or estimating (co-op/internship considered)
· Understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems is an asset
· Familiarity with blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
Preferred:
Previous experience with estimating or project coordination
Work Environment:
· Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
· Primarily sedentary office based role
· Occasional travel to project sites, which may include remote or rural locations
· Fast-paced environment with competing deadlines during bid periods
· May require extended working hours during tender closings

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
