The Role
Castle Mountain Chalets is seeking an experienced, reliable, and hands-on Housekeeping Manager to lead our housekeeping department.
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of the housekeeping department, ensuring our guest cabins, suites, and public areas consistently meet the property's cleanliness and presentation standards.
This is a hands-on management position. The successful candidate will lead the team while also being comfortable assisting with housekeeping duties when operationally required.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their department, communicates effectively with other departments, supports their team, and takes genuine pride in providing an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping Operations & Leadership
- Lead and oversee the daily operation of the Housekeeping Department
- Prepare daily room assignments and organize housekeeping workloads based on arrivals, departures, stayovers, and operational priorities
- Conduct regular inspections of guest cabins and suites to maintain high cleanliness and presentation standards
- Ensure rooms are cleaned, inspected, and released to Front Desk in a timely manner
- Monitor housekeeping productivity and ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently
- Actively participate in daily cabin and suite cleaning alongside the housekeeping team, as this is a hands-on management role within our small team.
- Respond promptly to housekeeping-related guest requests or concerns
Team Management
- Lead, support, train, and motivate the housekeeping team
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new housekeeping employees
- Prepare and manage housekeeping schedules based on occupancy and operational requirements
- Delegate responsibilities and provide clear daily direction to the team
- Monitor staff performance and provide coaching when required
- Promote a positive, respectful, productive, and team-oriented work environment
- Work closely with the Relief Housekeeping Supervisor to maintain consistent standards during days off and weekends
Inventory & Organization
- Monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, guest amenities, and cleaning products
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and communicate purchasing requirements to management
- Ensure housekeeping storage, linen, and supply areas remain clean, organized, and properly stocked
- Help minimize unnecessary waste and control departmental supply costs
Interdepartmental Communication
- Maintain strong communication with Front Desk regarding room status, early arrivals, guest requests, and operational priorities
- Identify and report maintenance concerns found during room inspections
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team to ensure deficiencies affecting guest rooms are addressed
- Communicate operational challenges and staffing requirements to property management
About You
- Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel, lodge, resort, or similar hospitality environment is required
- Previous housekeeping supervisory or management experience is strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and team-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and high cleanliness standards
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Comfortable working in a hands-on management position
- Ability to prioritize effectively during high-occupancy periods
- Confident, dependable, positive, and solution-oriented
- Ability to train and support employees with different experience levels
- Ability to operate commercial/industrial cleaning equipment and safely use cleaning products
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with commercial laundry operations
- In-depth knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper dilution, application, and safe handling
- Physically capable of performing housekeeping duties when required
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willing to commit to long-term employment or a minimum 12-month employment agreement
- Must currently have the legal ability to work in Canada for at least 18 months

Compensation
- Starting wage of $20.50 per hour
- $2000 Contract Completion Bonus with an additional $1000 based on performance paid at the conclusion of the employment agreement.
