Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Communications Systems Engineer (P.Eng.) to lead the design and delivery of advanced telecommunications and radio communications solutions for clients across public safety, utilities, energy, mining, and industrial sectors.
This is a senior technical leadership role that combines engineering excellence, client engagement, mentoring, and operational support. You will work closely with engineering, sales, operations, and business development teams to develop innovative communications solutions that meet complex operational requirements while maintaining the highest professional engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and review of telecommunications and radio communications systems.
- Design and implement solutions involving:
- Land Mobile Radio (LMR)
- Radio over IP (RoIP)
- Point-to-Point (PTP) communications
- Monitoring and network management systems
- Develop integrated communications architectures that align with client operational requirements.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, technical reports, drawings, and design packages.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Provide technical expertise to clients, sales teams, and business development personnel.
- Support proposal development, solution architecture reviews, and technical presentations.
- Participate in client meetings, site assessments, and solution development activities.
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements, upgrades, and new service offerings.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
- Promote engineering best practices, quality standards, and professional development.
- Provide technical leadership throughout project execution and delivery.
- Provide Tier 2 support for complex communications systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with operations and support teams.
- Participate in commissioning, testing, project reviews, and field inspections.
- Travel to client sites as required to provide engineering oversight and technical guidance.
What You Bring
Experience & Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with APEGA or eligible for registration.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in telecommunications, radio communications, networking, or related engineering disciplines.
- Experience designing and implementing complex communications systems.
- Strong knowledge of:
- LMR systems
- RF communications
- IP networking
- Communications infrastructure
- Experience with Radio over IP (RoIP) technologies.
- Experience with industrial communications networks and monitoring systems.
- Experience supporting public safety, utility, energy, mining, or industrial communications environments.
- Experience with microwave and point-to-point communications systems.
- Familiarity with Inside Plant (ISP) installation practices.
- Experience integrating communications endpoints, monitoring platforms, and network infrastructure.

Compensation:
This role offers a base salary of $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually.
