Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Coordinator works closely with HomeEd staff, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure HomeEd’s standards are upheld across construction activities. This position involves managing the day-to-day quality assurance, progress reviews, and inspections of construction and renovation sites, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to HomeEd’s expectations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential multi-family construction & renovation quality administration, inspections, progress & deficiency reporting, and a commitment to HomeEd’s values and mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Administration
- Act as HomeEd’s representative onsite, responsible for coordinating and reviewing the work of contractors, consultants, and suppliers with a focus on quality assurance.
- Conduct regular site reviews and inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications and schedule.
- Ensure all construction work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local building codes, industry standards, and regulations.
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control and assurance processes to ensure all work meets specifications with a focus on quality.
- Conduct detailed reviews, inspections, and audits to verify the quality of workmanship and materials.
- Address any quality issues promptly through established channels and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Support procurement processes, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
- Contribute to vendor onboarding, performance reviews, and lessons learned activities.
- Identify, implement, and maintain effective cost control measures to manage project budgets.
- Manage specific project and/or activity budgets, schedules, and outcomes as requested.
- Additional duties as required.
Quality Management System
- Contribute to standards and specification development to ensure quality, durability, and adaptability across asset lifecycles.
- Promote quality awareness throughout the organization and support quality initiatives across project teams.
- Support procurement processes, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
- Contribute to vendor onboarding, performance reviews, and lessons learned activities.
- Identify, implement, and maintain effective cost control measures to manage project budgets
- Ensure building systems are properly commissioned, documented, and trained out
- Support the collection and organization of warranty, operating, and maintenance information, ensuring post-installation training and integration support
Document Control
- Report on progress, deficiencies, and resolutions
- Maintain inspection records and support inspection scheduling as required
- Prepare, organize, and maintain quality records in accordance with project requirements.
- Support project teams by ensuring quality documentation is current, accessible, and properly filed
- Track corrective actions and ensure quality records are maintained
- Maintain project document control systems throughout the project lifecycle
- Organize quality documentation required for audits
- Assist in maintaining quality records and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, client requirements, and internal procedures.
Communication, Commissioning, and Compliance
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of scope and standards, effective communication, and collaboration.
- Prepare and present regular project updates and reports to project and corporate leadership.
- Address and resolve any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders promptly and professionally.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Prioritize the safety of self and all employees by following HomeEd’s safety protocols and policies. This duty requires a proactive approach to completing field-level or positional-level hazard assessments, as well as actively participating in improving the overall safety culture of HomeEd.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety on all construction sites.
- Monitor work sites, vendor activities, and reporting to ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions with construction teams, in collaboration with staff and stakeholders.
Further duties and responsibilities based on the needs of the organization may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in Construction Management, Quality Management, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control administration, with a focus on residential multi-family construction and renovation projects preferred.
- Proven experience working with quality management systems.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and building codes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
